Right-click to paste

Solved

Hello everyone.

I have a small question, probably a silly one, but I can't find the solution.
I remember that at one point, it was possible to copy/paste just by selecting the text and right-clicking to paste.
Now, the context menu has replaced that option.

How do I get that setting back?

If it's not possible to apply it to the entire OS, how can I do it just for the terminal?

For your information, I am using Ubuntu 10.04 (fully updated) with Gnome.

Thank you very much.

Configuration: Linux / Firefox 9.0.1

    Hello,

No, not a right-click, but just a middle-click with the scroll wheel ;-))

I don't understand why it's not working. I copied and pasted your text below and I'm on Ubuntu 11.04. It used to work fine with other versions too.

Did you just select the text and right-click without anything else?
    No context menu appearing?
    Are you also using Gnome?

Yes, that's what I did. Gnome will disappear in April, I suggest you switch to version 11.10 right away, you will like it.

I'm going to try to update Gnome (to version 3), with a bit of luck...

It's a pity that Ubuntu is dropping Gnome if it's to switch to Unity. I've tested it and I'm not really a fan; I prefer to switch to KDE.

Mint is very popular these days, but I don’t know what it’s running on.

I think it's a fork of Ubuntu. And judging by the screenshots, it runs on Gnome as well.
Too bad, I can't test it, no USB drive or CD with me :(

I know that there is Kubuntu on KDE.

Afterwards, whether it's Kubuntu, Xubuntu or Ubuntu, nothing prevents you from installing any desktop environment.
You can very well have an Ubuntu with Unity and run it with KDE and XFCE installed on it.
You can switch from one manager to another through the login screen.

    Oh f***, I'm ashamed ...
    Indeed, it works well.
It's because of the Windows console and all that putty stuff.

    Thanks anyway.

    Same here...
I experienced the same thing, I was convinced it was the right click!
