Dell XPS 8300 build + SSD installation

Hello,

I plan to buy a Dell XPS 8300 with the following specifications:

PROCESSOR Intel® Core(TM) i7-2600 Processor (3.40GHz, 8MB)
MEMORY 8GB DDR3 dual-channel (2 x 4GB) at 1,333 MHz
HARD DRIVE 1TB SATA at 7,200 RPM
GRAPHICS CARD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1.25GB GDDR5

I would like to know which motherboard and power supply are included by default?
I am indeed worried that these components may not be compatible with the graphics card.

I would also like to know if it is easily possible to install an SSD without removing the existing drive; and thus have 2 hard drives?

Thanks in advance, and happy new year to everyone!

Hi,

How much do you plan to pay for this Dell?
What type of use do you expect from this future PC?

See you later =)

The total price is 1450 (PC, screen, accessories).
I will mainly use it for gaming, tinkering with the Adobe suite, and watching videos.
Given the price, I hope to be able to keep it for several years, hence the SSD.

This PC is way too expensive for its specs (like all Dells, I'm not surprised by them, you have to be something to sell a setup like that at that price...). I advise against buying it.

Given your comfortable budget, I highly recommend building a setup piece by piece on a site like Matériel.net, that's how you'll get a PC with a good price/performance ratio.

If you want, I can offer you a custom setup...

Hello MacDragus,

Well, actually, I've already made the comparison.
It's true that I found a PC about 200 euros cheaper with the Solid State Drive installed and a second 1.5 To disk but without warranty, without operating system, and without the MS Office suite, so in the end, I didn't gain that much ...

I configured it on the following site: http://www.tdh.be/devis.aspx.

If you know of a better one, let me know.

Here’s what I propose for around €1450 (the same price as the Dell), with a screen:

Motherboard: https://www.materiel.net/carte-mere/l443/+fb-C000000806/

CPU: https://www.materiel.net/produit/201101040026.html

GPU: https://www.materiel.net/produit/201102090070.html

RAM: https://www.materiel.net/memoire/l442/

Power Supply: https://www.materiel.net/alimentation-pc/l445/

HDD: https://www.materiel.net/disque-dur-interne/l430/

SSD: http://www.materiel.net/disque-ssd/ocz-agility-3-120-go-67567.html

Optical Drive: https://www.materiel.net/produit/201106140035.html

Case: https://www.materiel.net/produit/201404290051.html

OS: https://www.materiel.net/produit/201401080030.html

+ Assembly: https://www.materiel.net/produit/201707180097.html

+ OS Installation: https://www.materiel.net/produit/201707180096.html

TOTAL (without screen): around €1320 (OS, assembly, and OS installation included, PC delivered ready to use)

+ Screen: https://www.materiel.net/produit/201111290086.html

TOTAL (screen included): around €1457 (OS, assembly, and OS installation included, PC delivered ready to use)

This configuration has a much better quality/performance/price ratio than the Dell. I included an i5-2500K (which is currently the best for gaming...), it will allow you to play without any issues and will also be sufficient for occasional video editing as you plan to do with the Adobe suite... The graphics card I selected (GTX570) is more powerful than the one in the Dell.
The motherboard is on a Z68 chipset, which will allow you to easily and effectively overclock your i5-2500K and also benefit from SSD caching technology that further speeds up file execution on the SSD. I included a 120GB SSD in addition to a 1TB hard drive, so you can use the SSD for the OS, certain software, games, etc... they will run much faster than on a standard hard drive, and the 1TB HDD for storing your documents.

You will receive this PC assembled and ready to use, you can use it as soon as you receive it.

Let me know what you think and feel free to ask me any questions!

=)

Thank you, it's true that it's interesting but, well... no guarantee.
By the way, do you know if I could install the solid state drive directly on the DELL?

"But hey... no warranty."
What do you mean "no warranty"? Of course it's guaranteed! The PC comes with a 1-year warranty from Matériel.net, and some components have a longer warranty directly provided by the manufacturer.

And regarding the noise, do you think it will be okay or is there something that needs to be changed?
I will also need to add the accessories (Keyboard - Mouse) and what's necessary for WIFI.
Do you think a sound card will also be needed?

Thank you!

"Do you think it will be alright or is it necessary to change something?"
The PC won't be excessively loud...

"Do you think we will also need a sound card?"

It is integrated into the motherboard.

"I will also need to add the accessories (Keyboard - Mouse) and what is necessary for WiFi."

For the keyboard and mouse, I'll let you choose based on your budget for these peripherals and your preferences in terms of design, key type, wired/wireless, etc...

For WiFi, you just need to add this internal WiFi card to your cart in addition to the setup:

Nickel, thanks for all this information!
And is the site matériel.net reliable?

I also need to buy an XPS 8300, but not with your configuration – really not great.
1/ Your memory
2/ The graphics card should be 2GB
And the rest, like the drive, etc., your sound card, etc. Well, too expensive, and for the 8300, there are better configurations, that's for sure.

and I would add that Dell's after-sales service is efficient
