Hello,
I've been losing my mind for a while!!!

I just received my OCZ Vertex 2 60GB SSD

I connected the SATA data cable and the SATA power connector

The SSD is recognized in the BIOS but doesn't appear in my computer under Windows, and in device management, the disk drive is there but in the volume tab it says
type: unknown
status: not initialized

I'm wondering what's going on
In my BIOS, SATA is set to IDE and the SSD is recognized

I really don't know what to do, and this is making me furious since it just cost me $150

Maybe I need to format my computer (which I intended to do to install Windows 7) for it to be detected in Windows

So if anyone knows how to initialize it, I'm all ears

Don't forget that I'm on Windows XP SP3 32-bit

HELP HELP!!!!

I would really, really appreciate your help

Configuration: Motherboard: Asus P7P55D PRO

Good evening,

In the volume manager.
On the status: Not initialized.
Have you tried right-clicking on it => initialize?

I tried, but it does nothing, and I'm not sure if this is relevant information, but in the driver tab, the driver comes from Microsoft and is dated 2001.

No installation CD with your hard drive?
Did you look for the drivers on the manufacturer's website?

No installation CD and on the OCZ website there are no drivers to download, only new firmware, but I am unable to update it.

Have you checked under another OS if it is properly recognized? (just to initialize it)

I don't have another OS
but otherwise you don't know how to initialize it under XP.

There is only the method mentioned above.
But after that, we can do it at the command prompt, it seems to me.
