Uh, actually it was there but it's gone, I'm talking about the black dots for passwords... :D

In principle, passwords entered interactively are not displayed on the screen.
Under Windows, there are black dots (I don't really know, I don't use that thing).
Under Unix/Gnome as well.
In terminals, nothing is displayed.

There are exceptions, of course.
Gates gave ^H sold you the windows.
GNU gave us the whole house. (Alexandrine)
