Hello,
I would like to have my member account on the Jeuxvideo.com site deleted, but the procedure seems strange to me.
Let me explain, here is the procedure that is requested:
-----------------
In order to proceed with the deletion of your jeuxvideo.com account, you must send us the following items to justify your identity:
- send a copy of the front and back of your identity card
- send a copy of the "my account" page showing your last name, first name, and contact information by logging into the following address:
(*link to account page*)
- send a letter requesting the deletion of the account in question, clearly specifying the username to be deleted.
You must send the documents to this address:
L'Odyssée Interactive - jeuxvideo.com
(*postal address*)
------------------
So, to delete my account, I have to send a copy of my identity card, as well as some of my account information, by mail.
What I am wondering is is this legal?
Am I required to send a copy of my identity card, which means providing personal information, in order to enforce my rights under the Data Protection Act?
Knowing that I still have the registration emails, and that my IP address has not changed, can I send all the necessary information by email, requesting the deletion of my account?
Thank you in advance for your help and information.
Have a good evening.

Radical but effective: You get your account permanently banned. You go to a serious forum, like the old men’s chat, and you let loose a bit. I guarantee that in less than an hour, your account will be deleted.

Hello,
There are plenty of "tips" for getting your account blocked, but that doesn't answer this person's question, which I'm also asking myself:
Is it legal to request this information to process an account deletion? I wasn't asked to send any ID when I signed up! Why should I provide it now?-
Hello..
It is 'legal' to request a double-sided copy of the ID card BUT it is strongly advised against doing so (This applies to any site). There is a possibility of identity theft if the data is not properly protected.. And there is no guarantee that it is.. So you have the right to refuse..
Suggestion: Send a formal notice to delete the Account + possibly all your messages.. Explain that if nothing is done you will go to the local court to obtain an injunction (Then they will know it is really YOU). Nonetheless, you must have good reasons to have your Account deleted..
https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mise_en_demeure By registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt, of course..
See you later.
