Issue with Motorola 2700 8 watts phone

Hello,
I have a Motorola 2700 International phone installed in my car that I've had for years.
Unfortunately, I can't find the slot to insert the SIM card. Nothing in the handset, nothing in the support; I assume this slot is in the transmitter-receiver, but I can't find it.
My car is a 1998 Mercedes 250 TD. Can someone help me??? Thanks in advance.

    The problem is that I can't find the central unit. I don't know where it could be. It's not in the glove compartment nor under the dashboard on the passenger side. Does anyone know where it might be hidden in a 1998 Mercedes 250 TD?

      Personally, I had placed it in the trunk behind the rear bench under the seats. Did you check? It's still visible as a box, and when leaving from the combined (from the support), you can't trace the wiring to see where it leads. I had one for the phone, and the wiring was quite long.

      I just visited the Damien Mercedes forum and I saw an interesting detail: the unit can be located at the feet of the passenger behind a steel plate, but if it's there, you shouldn't have to change the card often! I think that’s it because the wires from the combo go there.

      Yes, affirmative. As long as you don't change operators too often, it will be fine. Good luck, and when you get the chance, confirm if this is indeed the location of the unit, out of curiosity. Have a nice Sunday.

      Indeed, everything is located under the passenger carpet fixed behind the metal plate.
      It must be the original Mercedes assembly.

      Indeed, it should come apart quite easily, as they are not pop rivets; otherwise, it's a drill to take them out. Good luck!

    Hi, you should have 2 slots, one on the handset and the other on the unit, but it's a regular card (not just the SIM card) for this type of phone. You put your card in the unit and that's it, no worries.
