Logitech Alert Surveillance System Solved

Question

Hello, I bought this product (the Logitech Alert system) with 6 cameras. For your information, this system connects to the computer via powerline (220V). I have major ongoing issues as I rarely manage to connect all 6 cameras at once (I usually have 4, rarely more). I attribute this problem to the Alert Commander software. Due to its automatic frequency search system for the carriers used to connect each camera individually, I rarely manage to connect all 6 cameras for more than a few hours, because at the first transmission problems, the system goes back to automatically searching for new frequencies, permanently disconnecting the lost cameras. I then have to manually perform a general reset with a paperclip, and restart the Logitech Alert Commander software to make it restart the automatic search, and this, dozens of times, which generally does not result in reconnecting all 6 cameras. So, there’s currently no way to trust such a system, which is very expensive by the way, when planning to go on vacation. NOTE: The manual promises a response from support within 48 hours. It’s been 3 weeks today that I’ve been trying to reach Logitech, and I still have no response from support, despite them giving me a ticket number. Hello, after a year in a box and a new house
I'm getting out to set up the Logitech cams
I have two 700i, three 700n, one 700e
And one Master 700n

My three 700n refuse to work, the red LED stays on permanently
I've swapped the powerline plugs, the RJ cables, the power outlets
I even have two powerline routers since a new Master system and one 700n was still in the box

Anyway, all work, the two 700i and the 700e BUT none of the three 700n
Paperclip does nothing
Remove the SDs too
Tried on both a Mac and a PC, both powerful enough with RAM
I tried all 5 and with one of each and all possible combinations

Does anyone have any idea, please?

The 700n are nocturnal, and it's rather those I wanted rather than the "base" 700i

Afterwards, I have a DELTA DORE home automation system for the shutters
I have a little doubt about that

Hello

I'm not a specialist in this type of equipment, but a camera requires a lot of memory. At least 1 GB per camera.
You mentioned having 6, so the memory is insufficient. Try experimenting with 3 cameras, then 4, and so on to see where it gets stuck.

The speed of your processor can also be the source of your troubles.

I have 6 cameras connected at rather significant distances (from 20 to 80 meters) and it works very well, except for a slight time delay of a few seconds or minutes.
I can see all 6 cameras at the same time, both on-site and remotely via Wilife.

I think a powerful computer, sufficient RAM, and a good graphics card with memory are needed. For me: Pentium dual-core 2.5 GHz, 4GB RAM, Nvidia 512MB and Vista 64 bit.

I have indeed noticed an issue with the power of the PC, because on the SONY laptop (1.8GHz), I often have major problems (green video for a few fractions of a second or even a total crash of the decoder which shows a mosaic of small colored rectangles).
But no matter how many PCs I change, there is a consistency. The recognition of the cameras is divided into a group of 4 cameras (on a cable of 10 to 15m) and a group of 2 cameras located less than 2 meters from the ECL Master unit.
Strangely, when the group of 4 cameras is detected, the group of 2 cameras is not, and vice versa. I have rarely had both groups detected at the same time, but it happened for more than 2 weeks, until I had a sudden power outage. I then found myself with one of the two groups, with the other impossible to connect unless I deleted the first group.
I therefore suspect the ALERT-CAMERA software which does a poor job of searching; once connected to one group, it is unable to find the correct subcarriers for the other group. Even in the absence of interference. I would like to emphasize that this problem is not related to the power of the PC, but probably to the disparity of distances of the groups in relation to the ECL Master unit.

We also invested in this system and installed it in our babies' room.
What I find unfortunate is the lag between sound and movement, like when a person has left the room but still appears on the screen.
The connection with the cameras does indeed slow down the PC, so I can't do anything else when it's running the Logitech software.
However, we are still satisfied and the image quality is superb.

I just solved the problem.
I updated the software,
I shortened the 220V connection from 15m to 3m and compensated by buying a 25m Internet cable. Everything suggests that I had a connection issue with the power line.

I have a problem with the update; I can't update the camera (750e/700e) through Logitech Commander on my PC.
I don't know if the issue is due to the fact that I already have powerline adapters and that I just added the gray cable powering the camera (apparently POE) to the rest of my powerline network.
Since the two Logitech devices no longer recognize each other and so far the Logitech support for this product range has been relatively incompetent, I'm asking if you might have a solution, please??

I apologize for my slow response on this site. Where I explained that it was impossible for me to recover the connection of two of my six cameras without a long and complicated procedure.

I solved my problem by shortening the 220V connection (it was 10 m, I reduced it to 2 m) and extending the Ethernet connection (which is now 15 m) to compensate, which led me to order two new Ethernet cables from logitech-en-ligne, since it is IMPOSSIBLE to find these cables (specific miniature connectors) in stores (I did not appreciate this at all, as this cable is unavailable at Castorama where I purchased my Alert-Commander system).

I had a recurring interference problem. Things have finally returned to normal after the update, which finally allows the software on the PC to remember the communication frequencies, even if a camera temporarily loses connection.

NOTE: I still regret that there isn't a scheduler that allows changing:
- the zoom,
- the sensitivity (essential between night and day),
- the email address,
- or even disconnecting/reconnecting certain cameras depending on the time of day (night day, weekends, holidays).

The software team still has a long way to go...

If I were sure they were competent, I would ask them to create software that filters alarms taking weather into account (wind, rain, shade from trees), as this is something that can be done with more or less success using software (often with a slight delay, it is true) that processes shapes in images and videos.

Just a word.
In case of camera recurrence (camera missing, despite all our efforts), it should be noted that there is a RESET on each camera, accessible with the end of a paperclip. This has often gotten me out of trouble at the very beginning of my installations.

NOTE: a lot of information is stored in the cameras and sometimes blocks connections. A RESET is then THE ONLY SOLUTION.

The problem may also be that the powerline adapters (CPL) are no longer recognized as being in the same powerline "group."
In this case, you need to set a secure password for all the powerline adapters in order to pair them together, similar to a Wi-Fi code.

Otherwise, apparently there are other software solutions compatible with these cameras, Blue Iris and VitaminD.

I acquired a camera, then a second one, seeing that the system worked perfectly on my iPhone and from anywhere in the world with excellent image quality. I was set to buy a third camera, and my friends also wanted to equip themselves because the results were stunning.
Then suddenly, no more cameras
It's been 5 months that I've been in contact with Logitech to solve this issue
There's no other powerline adapter on my network, and no electrical network modifications have been made.
The resets don't change anything
Neither do the reinitializations
Logitech graciously sent me a first powerline adapter for the camera side, then another powerline adapter for the router side
The only way to restore things to normal is to practically place the cameras and the router powerline adapter on the same outlet. However, it's clear that the point of powerline technology is precisely to make communications, albeit over short distances, between not closely located points.
For example: from one side of a house to the other, and possibly with a garage.
Here's my rant because Logitech needs to solve this case; otherwise, it would be better to buy cameras like BELKIN in HD WIFI at three times less the cost.

Don't despair with Logitech camera customer service ...
Contacted in early June of this year due to an image issue that turned pink/green, then nothing, although the camera was still detected, I reached out to them ... (Customer service is reachable and free, worth mentioning).

They initially claimed there was a problem with my PC .... in that case, why, with the PC turned off, does it not work on 2 smartphones (Nexus 5 and iPhone 5C), a tablet (iPad 2, both on WiFi and tethering), a laptop, and also a friend's laptop (different network, router, etc ...), and directly with a friend who is a network engineer ....

After numerous diagnostic submissions and email exchanges (21 emails received ...), they finally sent me a new camera via UPS in 3 days, and it worked in 2 minutes, still on the same network, with the same powerline adapters, etc ....

For your information, I tested 2 cameras from D-Link ... very disappointed! I had the DCS-942L and then the DCS-5222L).
The Android app works very poorly, it only functioned on WiFi, and the image was very ugly even in HD, asked customer service in early July, still no response a month later .... in short, I'm glad my Logitech is working again (much better, and fortunately, since it's almost twice as expensive :-/ )
