Question

Hello everyone!!!

I have a big problem that I can't seem to solve. When I try to install my HP PSC1510 printer using its installation CD, a message informs me: file USBSTOR.INF version 5.1.2600.0 is missing in WINWOWS\INF.

If anyone has a solution, please send it to me.

BY PERSISTING, I MANAGED TO FIND THE SOLUTION AND I WOULD LIKE TO THANK "L'electon libre informatique" AS WELL AS "vieu bisou boiteu" WHO WERE WILLING TO HELP ME IN MY SEARCH.

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE, HERE IS THE SOLUTION:

CLICK ON DOWNLOAD AND THEN WHEN THE PAGE OPENS, YOU NEED TO COPY THE PAGE AND SAVE IT AS "USBSTOR"
THEN INSERT THE PROGRAM INTO THE "WINDOWS, THEN IN THE inf SUBFOLDER" AND YOU NEED TO OVERWRITE THE OLD USBSTOR FILE AND THERE YOU GO........

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THOSE WHO MIGHT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM I ONCE HAD .....

Try installing another device via USB. If it works, then you'll know that the problem indeed comes from the printer installation. If it doesn't work, then check if your other USB devices are still functioning. Then be more specific about your hardware and software configuration. ;-)

For those who haven't found the solution yet, I suggest you follow the approach I took.

For this, go to the 4th message which perfectly describes the procedure to follow.

P.S: it's not very complicated.

Thank you all for USBSTORE  Please note that it only works with Internet Explorer for downloading, with Firefox, it displays a log.   Knowledge is only valuable if it is shared.

I forgot to add some little details for response 4,

to replace the old 'usbstor.inf' file located in the 'inf' folder, this file is hidden under the C:\WINDOWS directory, so for this, go to the folder options menu --> view tab --> THEN check the box to show hidden files.....

once these files appear, look for the file "'usbstor.inf'" (be careful, there is another file with the same name but a different extension 'usbinf.PNF'),

go to this link https://www.infdump.com/inffiles/U/USBSTOR.INF, then in the browser's top menu select File then Save As, and specify the path where the 'usbstor.inf' file is located, C:\WINDOWS\inf....., and replace it with the file from the above link, and there you go, continue your installation without any problems

click on the "View" tab, and in "Advanced settings", "Hidden files and folders"
check "Show hidden files and folders"
uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types"

Hello,
I’m also encountering this major issue with a USB device that absolutely refuses to start. I have Windows XP (non-pirated version) and my PC (brand ACER) just came back from a technician who messed everything up, and I don't want to deal with him anymore.
Anyway, I tried the steps described above very well, but nothing works. A simple USB stick is not recognized no matter which port I connect it to!
However, an external keyboard works perfectly.

Help!!!! Who could assist me please? I’m willing to allow remote access to my PC (I think that's possible).

Yes, I have gone through the procedure indicated in post 22... still nothing! For the section labeled "usb fixes," I didn't understand what was written (I saw a patch but I don't know where to place it). As for system restoration, I also don't know how to proceed. If it's a restoration to a previous date, it's pointless since the PC has just been wiped clean. It has been since that, done by a "pro," that it hasn't been working.
As for my configuration, here is what the "ma-config.com" site reports (I don't really understand why it indicates a "home" edition when I provided a Windows XP Pro installation CD to the repairman):

If you manage to find a solution, great; otherwise, I will try to find a competent repairman, which doesn't seem easy to come by..... I downloaded the indicated file (by retrieving it from the FTP site): it still doesn't work.... :-(  For the device manager, I don't see exactly what you're talking about. I have an earlier version, but I had the same type of problem. By going to the HP website, I was able to directly download the drivers corresponding to my version of Windows, and since then it works.
