Hello,
I opened my Minecraft server not long ago, a few days to be precise, no problem, dedicated, perfect, stable.
But on my side, when I connect to it, it messes up more, I experience huge LAG in multiplayer, I first thought it was my web configuration, but right after the 1.3 update, I told myself it wasn't me.
I did some tests on my connection, normal speed, everything works perfectly, and I’m hovering around 700Ko/s download, why, why am I lagging so much in-game?
I reset my livebox, so there are no ports open anymore, at least not manually, could that be the reason?
Thanks in advance.
Configuration: Windows Vista / Safari 534.13

I start in multi and I can't even move or turn anymore. I try the second server and I see inside a guy's head. What do I do?

Hi, I have exactly the same problem, and I can see that the issue comes from the connection, yet all the tests are positive.
Thank you in advance for your help.

I have a friend who is in the same situation as you, my server is not overloaded and my other colleague connects very well.
We have done everything we could but nothing works, at least we had some improvement
for this we went through:
an antivirus scan (Malwarebytes Anti-Malware works very well (you never know) and helps reduce the tasks launched at startup (important if you have software that connects to update))
a good defrag
removing as many programs from the taskbar as possible (consider disabling firewall and antivirus (P2P shield, web and others) if you are playing on a trusted server)
reducing the graphical quality of Minecraft
setting Java to high priority in the task manager (Alt + Ctrl + Delete)
there you go
if you have a miracle solution I'm also interested ^^

Personally, I have a similar problem, but I'm sure it comes from my laptop because when I play multiplayer on it, I lag (I can't open chests or they open with a 15-minute delay, etc.), but I don't lag at all on my desktop.
Yes, and it's all the more frustrating when you've just bought the game and it doesn't work, or at least not properly, like many of us...
I have exactly the same problem and when I send a message by chat, it arrives 3 minutes later.
Please help.
Please help.
Well, to move things along: I'm lagging in Minecraft, as mentioned earlier, my messages show up ~3 minutes later.
However: my connection tests are very conclusive, even with direct downloads I always have 1MB/s and 700k/s upload. Furthermore, on other online games I have absolutely no lag issues (I even have a ping of 14, I know ping ≠ lag) and it should also be noted that I tested on three different servers, and on two of them the scenery doesn't even load! (A small parenthesis to say that some players on the server I’m on have been experiencing lag for over a week and a reboot and cleaning of the server didn’t do anything... And that other players have their game perfectly smooth). Anyway, it's nonsense :/
In my opinion, it’s an internal problem with minecraft.net, possibly due to server overload, or maybe an issue with certain accounts... I don’t really know and I’m not knowledgeable enough in routing/networking to go too far on that.
EDIT: It should be noted that before the beginning of the week the game was perfectly smooth and there were no signs of lag on the horizon, and since last Sunday the state has deteriorated day by day, now it's no longer playable at all...

Hi everyone
I have the same problem, when I'm on the server the game is super smooth but my messages appear 5 minutes later and when I open a chest or do another action, it happens 5 minutes later.
I'm in quite a paradoxical situation because on my netbook, I lag so much that I can't even move but my messages and actions happen instantly. And on the contrary, as mentioned earlier, on my more powerful computer, the game is smooth but everything is delayed by a few minutes!
After that, I also think that the problem doesn't come from the connection (since there's no issue on my netbook). I don't know much, but I can deduce a few things, like maybe the difference in operating systems (netbook=win xp, my pc=win vista)? Well, I'm saying this but I'm not sure. That's why if anyone has a solution...
Thanks for your upcoming responses.

I'm experiencing the same thing, and I think it's due to the connection and the PC (RAM and/or processor).
Hello,
I also had the same problem as you. I had created a server, every time I connected it crashed, there was nothing to do, I was stuck. But now I found the solution. For single player and multiplayer, go to the folder (.minecraft), then go to options, you will see a notepad page and look for (fancyGraphics): true and replace true with false. If it still crashes for multiplayer, you can go to the server, a notepad page will appear, look for view-distance: 10 and replace 10 with 5. And there you go, you can play without bugs^^
Enjoy the game.

My experience
Here I created a server on two different PCs, on my dual-core laptop with 3 GB of RAM running Windows 7, and there are three of us playing, two on a local network including me on the PC where the server is created, and there is no lag.
But when I create the same server with the same version of Windows on my desktop PC with 4 GB of RAM and a quad-core processor, there is lag for all three players whether I am on the PC where the server is created or on the laptop.
I don't understand at all if anyone has any idea.
Thank you

We're not all equal when it comes to lag; some people can run it with 1 GB of RAM on a Windows 98, and here I am with my Windows 7 and 4 GB of RAM, and the game is unplayable (I can't dig the holes or place anything, etc...)
All of this since I got my new computer, while the other one (5 years old but better suited for gaming) had no lag and Minecraft wasn't ruined.
:(

Hi, I might have an idea: search Google for the mods OptiMine, OptiTick, and OptiFog, and it will lag a lot less.
My problem is different, I lag like crazy on my PC with 12 GB of RAM
but when I switch to far, I lag a lot, whereas in tiny I lag nothing at all
is this normal? Or is it my Java that's buggy?

Hi,
I have the same problem as you. I play on PvP servers and when my brother takes the iPad, other players start flying, teleporting, and I respawn underground...
If anyone has an idea (I’m on Intel Core i5 and both Java and my computer are 64 bits)... Thanks ;)
Otherwise, try downloading Game Booster and launching Minecraft with it, it works well, and install Optifine, that works too!
