Illustrator CS5 - crop an illustration

Hello,

In my illustration, I have some elements that exceed the canvas. When exporting to obtain a jpg file, I have 2 white bands on the left and at the top.

How can I ensure that the export only includes the elements within the canvas?

I think you need to go through "save for web."
There, you have a "image size" tab and then you check "trim based on artboard."
