Hello,
I just finished a graphic document made in Photoshop. However, I didn't pay much attention to the format before starting. I would like someone to give me the modifications needed so that this document can be in a standard poster format (concert, show), as well as the format for it to be the size of a flyer.
I would also like to know what properties I need to set for the document for a printer, please. Thank you for your help.
Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 3.6.9

Hi,
To modify the format of your document in Photoshop, you need to check this at the top in the menu Image> Image Size...
Here you can change the width and height.
For a poster, it seems that 40x60 cm is a standard, and for a flyer, it really varies but generally does not exceed 15x15 cm.
Also check the resolution below, in the same window (where you can change the size of your image):
Ideally, your image should be 300 dpi minimum if you want to print posters...
However, if you started with a document that has a low resolution, do not increase it because your document will lose quality... In other words, you can always decrease the resolution but it is not recommended to increase it!
Finally, if you are sending to the printer, your document should be in CMYK mode, for that go to the menu Image>Mode>CMYK Colors.
It's also advisable to allow 5mm of bleed all around in addition to your initial format, for the bleed area.
I hope this somewhat answers your question!
Good luck!

Hello,
I'm getting back to the topic to get some details. I've made all the necessary modifications. Now my question is: My finished document (.psd) is 363 MB, is that normal? When I try to save it as a .jpg, the size is 24.3 MB, is that normal again? (I think that seems like a lot)
Moreover, I need to send the document to a specialized poster printing site, which document should I send them, the psd or the jpg?
Thank you for your help.

I advise you to check the resolution quality you will have when printing before you print
the procedure is very simple:
display >> print size
if the quality is good then good for you :) otherwise you'll need to make some adjustments before printing
good job

My document is 40X60cm, the resolution is 300dpi. When I go to: display --) print size, the image increases in size but is no longer 40 cm wide...but the quality is good.
Otherwise, an answer to the questions asked above??

Hello,
(I think it's a lot) --> My document is 40X60cm
It's not an ID format either, and the PSD is not compressed while the JPEG is...
Are you planning to do the printing yourself or go to a printer?
You shouldn't use JPEG, it's pretty useless or not very useful for what you want to do (if you're going to a printer), keep a PSD in case there are changes to make, and create a PDF for the printer; generally, printers don’t like JPEGs much...
Luke.

For the size, I followed LiptOn's instructions; if it needs to be reduced, that's not a problem. I don't know what "a passport format" means :-s
Finally, I plan to send the document to a printer, but the issue is that when I do: save as, and then when I change the format from psd to pdf:
1- There are information fields that I don't know about, like: general, standard, compression, output, summary...
2- When I don't change anything and just click "save the pdf", the file doesn't appear! :-(
I would like to have detailed information on how to proceed from the moment the graphic document is finished in Photoshop CS5 (in psd format) until sending the pdf document to the printer.
I'm sorry, but it's my first time doing this, plus the concert is coming up soon...
Thank you in advance!
