It seems to me that this is taken from a poem, but I have no idea which one.

Good evening "Caro".

Thank you very much for the indicated lyrics.

I am also looking for the complete lyrics, but apparently, they can only be found in the still available paper editions.

In any case, here are the references I have:
Original title: Zigeunerleben, opus 29.3 by Robert Schumann (1810 - 1856) French title: Les Bohémiens
German lyrics by the German Emmanuel Geibel ("Im Schatten des Waldes")
French lyrics by the Belgian Victor Wilder ("Là-bas, sous l'ombrage").

Song for piano and four female voices (soprano or mezzo-soprano).

Edition apparently available at:
Éditions Durand, 13 rue des Fossés Saint Jacques, 75005 Paris.
Tel: +33 (0)1 44 41 50 90
Fax: +33 1 53 24 80 69

Emails: durand-salabert-eschig@bmg.com,

Good luck with your search.

I learned this song when I was 10 years old in our 5th-6th grade class (I am Belgian - 68 years old). However, there are a few small differences. But one day I heard this music on the radio. It was written by a "classical" author but I didn't remember the name.
