PC issue 'a disk read error occurred'? Solved

Question

Hello,

when I turned on my laptop, I got this message:

"A disk read error occurred
Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart"

what should I do? without disassembling anything..

PS: it's an Acer 5920G-6A4G32Mi running Vista
processor T5750
ATI HD 3650
it's a little over a year old

Configuration: Windows XP / Internet Explorer 7.0

Is it better to replace the hard drive then? But I'm going to have to reinstall everything on the hard drive and Acer doesn't provide any recovery CDs, what should I do?

In the BIOS, you need to make sure that the hard drive is not damaged.

Last time I pressed F2 at startup and I arrived in the boot section where it said:

It depends on the BIOS, but generally in the first menu of the BIOS (top left).

main: with system time, system date, system memory, extended memory, video memory, quiet boot which is enabled, power on display set to auto, network boot which is also enabled, F12 boot menu set to disabled; D2D recovery enabled and SATA mode set to AHCI Mode

in main ... what I am telling you (in all the bios) is that it displays the status (capacity, size, etc.) of the disk.

yes it shows me extended memory 4000 MB of RAM, video memory and system memory

no, there's nothing regarding the disk drive's storage capacity.. I conclude that it must be dead  thanks for all the information ;)

you will find this after checking IDE or SATA and also capacity (e.g.: 40 GB or other and if you find a size smaller than that of your hard drive then it is a dead drive)
