Hi everyone.
It turns out that I have a problem with the startup of my PC. It starts up fine but asks me which session to open when there is only one.?!?!?
And when I go to the control panel and user accounts, there are two accounts: mine and another one named ASP.NET Machine A...
What should I do?
Thanks in advance

I also have the same problem with the ASP.NET machine account that I set as an administrator. I followed the procedure correctly, but when I restart my computer and press F8, I don't see the option for normal system restore. Please help me.

%systemroot%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\aspnet_regiis.exe /i

c'est tout

Dear Grosist,

I will try to activate my English,

Sorry for "answering" to a so old topic but you are the only one to speak of ASP.NET user removal.

My "user" ASP.NET was created when installing Pinnacle Studio 10
(a movie maker software - I had version 8 before without this problem)

Personally I do not make any ASP.NET development work on my machine and do not intend to do any.

I have a tendency to think I may remove this account but if I do that, will my Studio 10 function 100%?

Thank you for your help.

Best Regards and a happy new year..

You can delete this account, but it is vital if you are doing development work on ASP.net on your machine.
By deleting the account, you may find that your ASP.net projects will not work properly anymore.

Hello
Thank you for the link, but it doesn't explain why the PC starts and asks me to log in. I would like it to start on its own, is there no way to do that?

Hello everyone,
in addition to the tips already given above, e.g.:
http://www.mvps.org/marksxp/WindowsXP/aspdot.php > http://mvps.org/marksxp/WindowsXP/welskip.php
you can also follow these two possible solutions:

1° right-click on My Computer > manage then go to System Tools > Local Users and Groups > Users; which will then be displayed on the right; 2click on ASP.NET > check: account disabled

2° Alternatively or additionally, you can use gpedit.msc; then:
Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > User Rights Assignment
Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options
then on the right, choose the option to enable | disable ...
WARNING! MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING!!! if you have any doubts, leave it as it is, Cancel to exit the window; get informed e.g. from https://1map.com/fr/astwindscom to potentially come back ...

same method with secpol.msc

you can also block all connections to your PC from the Web:
right-click on My Computer > Properties > "Remote" tab

================= WARNING! MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING!!! =================

see here: https://1map.com/fr/astwindscom

-- under WinXP Pro: Windows+R keys > gpedit.msc > User Configuration > Administrative Templates > System; then on the right; 2click on
-- same technique for secpol.msc

-- under WinXP Home: you first need to install the package from astwinds to perform this operation ...

Finally, the ASP.NET account is only useful for certain programs and/or websites that sometimes use it to impersonate Administrator rights on your PC ...

So disable or delete it without worry ... the same goes for the Guest account which can be disabled via the classic account management > Control Panel ...

Ahhh... what wouldn't we do without M$oft ...

Additionally, I recommend the following free software:
-- security and maintenance cleaning suite: https://www.iobit.com/en/index.php?s
-- security suite, cleaning and protection, AntiVirus and Firewall and other Anti ... :
Comodo Internet Security – Free Version : https://www.comodo.com/products/free-products.php

happy surfing @+

I have the solution to all of this; I also had this problem and after several days of searching forums and all, I found nothing. I just did it myself; it's so simple that I understood it quickly =) yet I'm not very developed in this area.

Step 1: Restart the computer
Step 2: Press F8
Step 3: You will see a window open; choose the option "System Restore"
Step 4: Wait for the restoration loading
Step 5: Check the little box at the bottom: "more than 5 days" will have a phrase written
Step 6: Choose a date before you had the problem
Step 7: Wait for the loading and there you go =)

Thank you
