How to disable Bitdefender Total Security

Question

Hello, I have the BitDefender Total Security 2010 antivirus, and I would like to temporarily disable it, but I don’t know how to do it (I right-click on the icon, but there is no option to Exit or Disable, and I also opened the task manager, and when I try to stop the process, it says: The operation could not be performed Access denied even though I am the administrator).

Please tell me how to do it.

Disable BitDefender: double-click on the BitDefender icon next to
the clock, then in the 'Antivirus' section, under the 'Resident' tab, click
on the 'Disable' button. The message 'The resident is disabled' will appear
in red and the button will change to 'Enable'.

Personally, I wanted to remove Bitdefender to switch to an antivirus that doesn't slow down the machine as much. Since I didn't want to uninstall it, I just had to open CCleaner, go to Tools, then to Startup, and disable the entries related to BitDefender. And it worked.

That said, if you want to temporarily disable BitDefender, my solution isn't the right one.

In your taskbar at the bottom right, you have your Bitdefender, right-click on it and disable your protection temporarily.

But if you want a light antivirus, use Avira, it is very efficient, stable, and most importantly, free.

Right-click on Bitdefender in the taskbar, go to preferences and select "off" in front of Antivirus.

Bit Defender: to remove it, I did:
ControlPanel, View by Large icons (top right), right-click on the Windows Defender icon, Options, go to Administrator, uncheck the box "Use this Program" and Apply (or OK): that's done!
The reverse procedure (putting it back) is identical (recheck the box).

(this because on Windows_7, PC purchased in 2013, the BitDefender icon does NOT appear in the taskbar, nor in the Start menu/All Programs...)

Temporarily disable BitDefender 2017

1- Double-click on the "B" Icon
2- Click on VIEW MODULES (in blue on the left side of the table)
3- In the new 'Protection Modules' table, first box at the top left "ANTIVIRUS" click on Gear (settings)
4- Change the option "Access Scan" from YES to NO by clicking on it
5- This opens the choice of interruption time
6- Close
