Song with "the prisoners"

Good evening,

tonight it's my turn to pose a riddle,

so I've been searching for a good decade for a children's song that talks about a little girl, the daughter of a prison guard, and it seems to me that she wants to "free" the prisoners because she has "the key to the prisoners."

To guide you, it closely resembles the creepy song about the girl who wanted to go dance with her brother and her "golden belt" at a ball on a bridge..... there are those well-known lyrics "no no my girl you will not go dancing, no no my girl you will not go dancing."

In the end, the girl named Adèle and her brother go to the ball and they die on the bridge, there is a tragic accident (enjoy!! :)

Anyway, it seems to me that it's also Adèle in the song I'm looking for, so if there are any thirty-somethings (or others) around who know what I'm talking about, thank you for helping me...

"the key to the prisoners!!"voilà voilà

Hello loona25.
The only thing I've found so far are these few lyrics I found in a question on another forum:

"Pauline was the daughter of a prison guard
my god how beautiful she was
She was as beautiful as the day a prisoner courted her

Pauline runs off to find her father
father oh my father my ????????? I want the key to the prisoner
the key to the prisoner is not made for you Pauline oh my Pauline

Apart from that, I can't find anything else interesting.
Hoping this helps you a bit.

Pauline runs away, she is going to find her father
Father oh my father, my beloved, give me the keys to the prisoner
Father oh my father, my beloved, give me the keys to the prisoner

You will not have the keys, Pauline my dear Pauline
He will suffer, he will die, Freedom is not made for him
He will suffer, he will die, Freedom is not made for him
Pauline walks away crying, she goes to her room
Pauline walks away crying, she goes to her room
She puts her hand under the pillow, she found the keys to the prisoner
She puts her hand under the pillow, she found the keys to the prisoner

That's all I remember, I think 1 or 2 sentences are missing.

Pauline was the daughter of a prison guard
oh my god how beautiful she was
oh my god how beautiful she was
she was beautiful like the day her prisoner courted her
she was beautiful like the day her prisoner courted her

one day Pauline went away singing and went to find her father
father my father, my beloved, give me the keys to the prisoners
father my father, my beloved, give me the keys to the prisoners

the keys to the prisoners are not meant for you
Pauline my dear Pauline
the keys to the prisoners are not meant for you
Pauline my dear Pauline
Pauline left crying and went up to her room
Pauline left crying and went up to her room
slipped her hand under the pillow, found the keys to the prisoners
slipped her hand under the pillow, found the keys to the prisoners

Pauline went away shouting, and went to find her Pierre
Pierre my Pierre, my beloved, I come to set you free
Pierre my Pierre, my beloved, I come to set you free

Freedom is not meant for me
Pauline my dear
Freedom is not meant for me
Pauline my dear

I will suffer and I will die
Freedom is not meant for me
I will suffer and I will die
Freedom is not meant for me
It’s a very beautiful song that I have never forgotten in my life I don't know either its singer or who wrote it but I love it

Hi Micka ;)

Thank you for your reply.... I had seen it too, unfortunately it doesn't ring any bells for me..

Maybe it’s the right lyrics (even though "Pauline" doesn't jog my memory), but it's so old-fashioned that I can't remember.. not even the tune..

Otherwise, does Adele and her golden belt ring a bell for you?

There was a parody made by Agaff in the 80s/90s (Zoubida..... lol)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcQpDHwdDKs

The real lyrics were:
"On the northern bridge a ball is being held,
on the northern bridge a ball is being helddddddddddddddd"

I've been looking for the one from the prisoners for about 15 years.. it resembles it a lot,

thanks anyway!!

Well, to tell the truth, and at the risk of making you smile, it mainly reminds me of "The Prisons of Nantes."

The lyrics of the nursery rhyme ===> here.

And for Miss Adèle ^^ the lyrics ===> here.

re,

to be honest, yes, your link makes me laugh, but listening to it again, it seems like it could be this song,
I didn’t remember the word “Nantes,” otherwise the lyrics and the melody are really similar!!

for the phrase “the key to the prisoners,” I must have dreamed it Lol!! Plus, it really is a children’s song, so that was it.....

Otherwise, my sister sang it to me when I was little, it wasn’t in a “Breton” style with the Breton accent and everything, maybe that’s why I didn’t recognize it right away hihi^^

so thank you Micka, topic solved,

and I wish you a good evening!

Stop saying it's a children's song, because that's not true.

Pauline was the daughter of a prison warden, my God, how beautiful she was (repeated)
she was as beautiful as the day when a prisoner came to court her (repeated)

Pauline goes away singing, she's going to find her father (repeated)
father, oh my father, my beloved, I want the key to the prisoner (repeated)

no, no Pauline, you will not have the key to the prisoner (repeated)
(I can't remember this phrase)

(I can't remember this phrase)
she slipped her hand under the pillow and found the key to the prisoner (repeated)

Pauline goes away running, she's going to find her Pierre (repeated)
Pierre, oh my Pierre, my beloved, I come to give you freedom (repeated)

no, no Pauline, freedom is not meant for me, no, no, my dear Pauline (repeated)

(there must be a part missing here)

to die here, to die there, I want to die beside you (repeated)

That's all I remember, if someone remembers anything else.

I believe I know the song completely, my grandmother learned it in primary school and still sings it today…

I think there are several versions but here is the one she learned:

She was beautiful, like the day, the prisoner courted her (X2)

Pauline goes away singing, she is going to find her father (X2)

Father oh my father, my beloved, give me the keys to the prisoner (X2)

Freedom is not meant for him, Pauline my dear Pauline (X2)

He will die (?), he will suffer, he will not have his freedom (X2)

Pauline goes away crying, and went up to her room (X2)

Slipped her hand under the pillow, found the keys of the prisoner (X2)

Pauline comes down singing, she is going to free Pierre (X2)

Pierre oh my Pierre, my beloved, I come to give you freedom (X2)

Freedom is not meant for me, Pauline my dear Pauline (X2)

I will die, I will suffer, I will not have my freedom (X2)

When Pierre went up to the scaffold, Pauline fell dead (X2)

To die here, to die there, I prefer to die in your arms (X2)
