Good evening,
I installed Windows Seven Home Premium this weekend. Installation OK, everything works, updates too.
This morning, I noticed that the little flag in the action center is adorned with a white arrow in a red circle. Windows Update seems inactive. I go to the Windows Update section of the Control Panel, I change the settings to set it to automatic installation (it was already there, by the way), but nothing works. When I search for updates, I get the following message:
“Windows Update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer.”
The problem is, in Seven, there are no more "automatic update" or "Windows Update" services like in XP or Vista.
I don’t know where to look anymore...
I need help!Configuration: Windows 7
Safari 532.0

- 1. Click on Start, type cmd in the search bar, right-click on cmd.exe
- 2. Choose Run as administrator.
- 3. Type
net stop wuauserv
and press Enter, this command stops the Windows Update service. - 4. Type
ren %windir%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.Old
and press Enter, this command renames the "softwaredistribution" folder. - 5. Type
net Start wuauserv
and press Enter, this command starts the Windows Update service - 6. After this process, you can restart the search for updates and installation.

This thing really works well, without having to deal with boring programs like SpeedMaxPc or anything...
