Hello
As for the win files, click on "shortcuts" and you should see under "my computer" "media xxx Gio". It says there are as many as there are partitions, minus the one that is active.
Click on a partition to mount it and you will find "documents and settings".
You can leave them on the win side, as you can read and write from all Linux apps.
For example, with the image viewer, you will click on "open" and you will see your win partition in the shortcuts.
Just a reminder: Linux can read win partitions, but the other cannot do so. -
Oh thank you, I found everything, that’s one problem solved (and on top of that, I found all my music, so I really need to solve the other problem :P)

how did you do it?

I was unfortunately not referring to the sound but just to the Windows partition found on Linux.

I was unfortunately not talking about the sound but just about the Windows partition found under Linux.

Oh yes, but if you mix your different issues in the same discussion, I can't understand anything anymore...

Hi,
I had the same sound problem with Ubuntu 9.04 on an HP dv7, I got Ubuntu 9.10 yesterday and to my great happiness, no more problems, everything is recognized right away. -
I will install version 9.10 right away then :).

I had the same sound problem with Linux Mint (a distribution derived from Ubuntu) and I fixed it by:
I removed PulseAudio:
sudo apt-get --purge remove pulseaudio* libpulse*
sudo apt-get install alsa-utils gstreamer0.10-alsa
and I followed http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=7299632&postcount=60
