Hello everyone,
I wanted to know if anyone could help me. I would like to know if these arcade joysticks (PS3 or Xbox360) developed by Madcatz are compatible with my PC? If so, do I need to install software, drivers, etc...? I've searched everywhere but have not found convincing answers...
The SE version: https://www.amazon.fr/Joystick-Arcade-Street-Fighter-IV/dp/B001M22VCU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1246395549&sr=8-2
The TE version: https://www.amazon.fr/Joystick-Arcade-Street-Fighter-Tournament/dp/B001M25AY6/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1246395549&sr=8-4
I hope you can help me
Thank you in advance for your responses

Hello
Be aware, there is a known incompatibility issue with the Madcatz TE stick and Nvidia chipsets.
For the PS3 version of the stick, this is confirmed; for the Xbox 360 version, it seems the issue does not occur, but it needs to be verified.
The workaround is to use a USB extension card with a VIA chipset to connect the stick.
The information is available on the Madcatz website in the FAQs, and can be easily found on Google.
Hoping this helps those who, like me, are stuck!-
Hello Braddock,
I just got a PS3 Madcatz Street Fighter 4 stick to play on my PC. Windows recognizes the stick, but the buttons don’t work.
I don’t really understand what you mean by “USB extension card with VIA chipset.” I saw that mentioned on the Madcatz website too, but I don’t understand anything.
Can you help me please?
Thanks- If the stick is recognized by the computer (and it shows you the message that the device has been successfully installed and is ready to use), the problem is not related to the USB. Try going to the Control Panel -> Game Controllers or Devices (the symbol with the little controller) to see if everything is working correctly. If you have a friend with a Madcatz stick, try connecting his to see if it works.
However, if you didn't get the message that the device is ready to use when you first connected it, it's a USB problem. The Madcatz stick (SE and TE) is not compatible with motherboards that use NVIDIA chipsets to manage USB ports. Solution: buy something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000B63KQ4
An expansion card to plug inside your computer which provides additional USB ports, all controlled by a chipset from a manufacturer called VIA. Note that VIA is not the brand of the card itself but only the USB controller on the card. It's a bit like a car (Peugeot, Renault, or whatever you want) with a stereo of a particular brand (Alpine, for example). You don't care about the car's brand as long as you have your Alpine stereo – or VIA USB chipset in our case.

Thank you, after some research I bought an SE to get some practice, but the buttons and joystick are supposedly not great... I'll change them a bit later.

I have a motherboard with NVIDIA, and the problem was resolved
by installing the drivers for the Xbox 360 wired controller:
Drivers for wired version 1.1

The Macatz TE stick was then directly recognized. -

Yes, the Madcatz sticks are 100% compatible with PCs. They come with a USB extension and are apparently plug and play, so nothing to install.

Otherwise, at more reasonable prices, you have the Hori Fighting Stick 3 for PS3 but 100% compatible with PC, which you can order on Playasia, for example. It doesn't compete in the same category as the Madcatz tournament edition, but it's still a very good arcade stick with a good quality/price ratio.

Okay, I understand better, thank you very much.
But if the stick is recognized by the computer and it tells me that it is ready to use and everything. But when I go into the control panel "game controller" and I tap on the stick, nothing happens. I tried to calibrate it, but again nothing happens.
Do you think it will work if I buy the expansion card? -
Just so you know, I connected the stick to my girlfriend's laptop and it works very well. At least it's not the joystick that's the problem :)

Hello
Even if the stick seems to be recognized by Windows, if you can't detect it in games (or calibrate it in the control panel for example), you'll need a USB expansion card.
Since my last post, I bought one (15 euros) and everything works perfectly :)
Barbarossaxxx summed it all up :)
See you later.

Hi Braddock,
Can you give me a link to a USB expansion card? I'm a bit of a noob on the edges...-
Hello
here is an example of a card with VIA chipset:

There's no need to get a high-end model over 60 euros; a simple model at 15 euros, or even less, does the job perfectly.
the VIA logo looks like this:

Have fun :)

Hi
Thank you very much for your help!
I will try to find that in Montgallet :)
See you! -
A problem with Street 3 and Mame? A solution: get an Xbox 360 and buy the Xbox game that is compatible with Xbox 360. As far as I know, the 2D fighting games from SNK or Capcom have not entered the public domain. Or else a Dreamcast, you have a choice^^
