Hello,
I just put a text file in my TI89 calculator. As on many sites, I'm told to go to 'main', press enter, and then put parentheses on either side. I do that and press enter. And then it says: ERROR - non-algebraic variable in the expression - ESC: cancel
Is there another way to open it, or do I have a configuration problem?
Thanks for your help
:)

You just need to press F6 :)
However, I have another little problem!
When I'm in the text file, I can't scroll down to see the rest of the file because when I press the arrows, it takes me back to the menu var-link =s
Thank you for responding if you know because the exam is approaching! =) -
I'm sorry if I write less well than you, but your problem isn't really one.
Well, if you want to write, just type successively:
apps 8 3 after that, type any name for your text, and later to see it, just do
apps 8 1 if of course you want to open the text you wrote last. Once you have several, you will need to type:
apps 8 2 and find the name of the file you want to open.
There you go, you can now open, write, and modify texts.
This solution is not too bad, but it has a lot of flaws.
1 it's long to scroll down and just as long to scroll up.
2 it's written but the titles are neither underlined nor framed.
3 and in terms of security, it's really bad >< one shock and you would lose everything. I remind you or teach you that if you don't connect your calculator to your computer, you could lose everything because your data will be in a sort of live memory, and only a computer connected to the calculator will make your memory a dead memory.
So if you need to connect it, then why not take advantage of making the texts directly on the computer by doing a little programming with a lot of # you would have in no time a chapter with framed and underlined titles.
For this, you need to install Hibview in main and then write this:
hibview("here_find_your_document_you_wanted_to_open_like_this_2nd_var-link_search_the_folder_then_once_on_it_enter")
You will see it will change your life, you will navigate a thousand times faster in your chapters. =) -
I think you just need to check that you're not in 10th grade. Because to go to var link for doing 10th grade.
Otherwise, I don’t have your problem. And thanks for your response
Same for the baccalauréat!!!! -
Hello!
A friend installed the ffx program on my calculator. But sometimes it doesn't want to run this handy program and gives me the message: error: non-algebraic variable in the expression
I looked on the internet, and some say it’s probably because I inadvertently assigned a value to X. And that I need to go to MAIN and delete the variable x. But when I go to MAIN, and I press clear on the variable x, it shows me a message saying that the variable x is archived, are you sure you want to delete it?
So I hesitate to do that.
Can anyone please help me! I'm freaking out before the baccalaureate!!
THANK YOU.-

In the end, how did you do it? Because I could access the programs I uploaded, and this morning I added more, and since then when I go into hidview() like I used to read them, it says done even though they are still on the TI-89! I don't know what to do; does anyone have any idea? Apparently, I have no more memory left even though I've hardly entered anything into the calculator. HELP!

to open a text file, you need to go to the text editor
the parentheses at the end are for the programs -
Small problem: I typed a couple of texts in the program editor of my TI-89. However, I learned that it was a bad idea and that it's better to do it in the text editor (that seems logical). I therefore copied and pasted each of the programs and it worked very well. I turned it off. When I turned it back on, I can no longer access the texts, only the text corresponding to "Current" when choosing which one to open. So all my texts are "Current" and my previous texts have disappeared. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance!
