Hello,
I want to install Microsoft SQL Server 2000 on my laptop (XP Pro SP2). After choosing to install on a local server, I received this message:

"An earlier program installation has created pending file operations on the computer. You must restart before running the installation."

I have restarted several times but nothing changes.
I don’t know which earlier installation of SQL Server it’s referring to since I just formatted the hard drive and reinstalled everything.

Can you help me? I installed SQL Server well before formatting my machine, but this is the first time I've encountered such issues.

Thank you.
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 3.0

Hello everyone.

I posted my problem on another forum and I was able to get the answer to my issue.

You need to go to the registry on this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Curr?entControlSet\Control\Session Manager
And delete the data from the string value PendingFileRenameOperations

If this can help other users...

Best regards.

Good evening, I also had a problem installing SQL Server 2000 on XP, but my problem occurred at the end of the installation. I receive an error message, and the link below shows my error message

I then looked at the information the message was talking about, and I got this...
I received two messages

So if anyone understands this gibberish that I don't understand, or if someone has had the same problem and managed to install it anyway, please let me know, thank you.
