Hello,
I have an Acer laptop with Windows XP and I can't create symbols like I can on my desktop.
For example: ☺☻♥♦♣♠•◘♫♪♫►↑!"#
I use ALT+numbers and I can create the symbols listed above. How do we do it on a laptop?

Hello my friend!
On a laptop, there isn't a numeric keypad as such in general.
The numbers of the numeric keypad are actually located on the main keyboard; it should be written if you look a little closer. For an AZERTY keyboard, for example, the numbers of the numeric keypad are arranged like this:
, 0
j 1
k 2
l 3
u 4
i 5
o 6
7 7
8 8
9 9
I've quickly looked for a little photo to show you; on this keyboard for example (it's a QWERTY keyboard, but the main point is to illustrate what I just wrote to you), you can see for yourself the small numbers below the letters M, J, K, L, U, I, O and next to the usual numbers 7, 8, 9.
So you should do as usual. Lock the numeric keypad (Fn+Num Lock), hold the Alt key down and type the numbers using the correspondence I just wrote to you.
But you also have the option of going through the Windows character map.
Windows+R ► charmap ► OK
or
Start ► All programs ► Accessories ► System Tools ► Character Map
I wish you a very good day!

You were very efficient in your response and especially very easy to understand.
I can now make small special characters!
Have a good day!
