Erreur fatale : impossible de charger les modules de la plateforme Solved

Question

Hello, I have a big problem with Steam. On the first launch I got the following error message: Failed to load platform modules I launch Counter-Strike 1.6, it runs fine; I test Counter-Strike: Source and then a window opens with Counter-Strike: Source loading, the window closes immediately and then the PC returns to the Desktop There I go crazy because I formatted the machine, reinstalled Windows XP, reinstalled Steam, reinstalled Counter-Strike and all the HL² mods, updated all my PC drivers, DirectX 9.0c etc ... In short I’m going nuts. I have to play old wars on CS 1.6 and it’s been over a month since I last played Source.  My config:  Mozilla Firefox Windows XP Home SP3 RAM: 1536 MB IDE Seagate HDD: 160 GB DirectX 9.0c Graphics card: Sapphire HD 2600 XT 256 MB GDDR3 AGP x8 Processor: AMD Sempron 2800 XP  Thanks in advance for your valuable help.

Hi! I had the same problem: Steam update => unable to open. I deleted the files mss32_s.dll and steam.dll in program files/steam. I restarted Steam and it ran the full update again. Since then everything is fine.  Maybe a bug during the update...

Oh I have exactly the same problem.. This happened to me about 2 months ago due to reinstalling CSS on another PC. After this bug I shoved the CD back on the shelf  And today even that made me reinstall the game.. It does the same thing, but this time instead of launching Steam I launched CSS and it seemed to work at least; Steam launches correctly, I just advised defragmenting the disk.. So far so good, I’m waiting for what happens next and I’m keeping my fingers crossed.  I’ll give you updates if it works ;) Bye and good luck.

I faced the same problem and I have the solution.

You just need to go to Steam: File -> Settings -> In-Game -> Uncheck Steam Community In-Game :D

For me it works!!

Hello everyone. I’ve just run into this problem about 5 minutes ago. I quick-looked at what you said and, in short, instead of launching Steam, I simply launched Counter-Strike Source (or Day of Defeat or Half-Life 2) from Start > Programs > Steam > the game. It asks for credentials, probably a small defrag of the game and voilà :) I hope it will work for you. Have fun playing :)

Hello everyone, I tried several techniques for this problem I’ve had right after buying CSS, and at the end of the installation this error message appears. I did as Scott, Marco, Midask said, but it doesn’t work. I put in the CD and when I click Play it connects me to Steam and the message appears, so I go through Steam but now it says Counter-Strike Source preloading completed at the bottom, it tells me to either purchase or buy when I launch CSS, and since I’m already connected to Steam it shows me the page to buy CSS. I don’t know what to do anymore. If there is a real solution that works, please send it to me as soon as possible please.

Hi everyone, To solve this issue, I simply “uninstalled everything,” then I went to the Steam site, downloaded their version, then uninstalled and reinstalled the full game. And it works now, I no longer get any error message ^^  Have fun playing  Elixorius

For those of you, those who have issues just after installation, it's just a problem with activating the game. In Steam, click on Game -> Activate a Product on Steam: here you follow the instructions (enter the code). and it downloads the updates. There you go, your product is ready to play. Have fun

Good evening everyone, I had the same problem as you and I searched for solutions. Actually it's simpler than that: go to Steam's site, on the main page go to the bottom tool tab and download lupload. I downloaded the upload and relaunched Steam; it has completely changed and it doesn't bug anymore (perhaps a new Steam skin).

None of that worked for me. I’m on Seven 32-bit and you just go to c:\program files\steam\ and delete these two .blob files: AppUpdateStats.blob and ClientRegistry.blob, then relaunch Steam. It will do a quick update and then it works. There you go!

basic solution: delete the clientregistry.blob in the steam folders. it will perform a tiny update of 1 minute, and normally it will be fine.  In any case this is the solution I found for myself.  ah steam had already provided the solution, sorry.  no need to delete the appupdatestats.blob however.  good luck.

hi, this is fantine. in the bottom left, add a game, activate a product on steam, enter the product code, when you validate it will ask you to insert the CD and it will reinstall the CD. All works for me.

I had the choice between "steam" and "steam service"
I double-clicked on "steam" and it rebooted everything, all by itself =')

Hello, I have the solution and it’s very easy. You go to the folder where you have the CSS, click on the folder (platform), then (steam), then (game) and delete the file (platformmenu.vdf) and then launch the game.
