Hello,
I have a big problem with Steam. On the first launch I got the following error message:
Failed to load platform modules
I launch Counter-Strike 1.6, it runs fine; I test Counter-Strike: Source and then a window opens with Counter-Strike: Source loading, the window closes immediately and then the PC returns to the Desktop
There I go crazy because I formatted the machine, reinstalled Windows XP, reinstalled Steam, reinstalled Counter-Strike and all the HL² mods, updated all my PC drivers, DirectX 9.0c etc ...
In short I’m going nuts.
I have to play old wars on CS 1.6 and it’s been over a month since I last played Source.
My config:
Mozilla Firefox
Windows XP Home SP3
RAM: 1536 MB
IDE Seagate HDD: 160 GB
DirectX 9.0c
Graphics card: Sapphire HD 2600 XT 256 MB GDDR3 AGP x8
Processor: AMD Sempron 2800 XP
Thanks in advance for your valuable help.

Hi!
I had the same problem:
Steam update => unable to open.
I deleted the files mss32_s.dll and steam.dll in program files/steam.
I restarted Steam and it ran the full update again.
Since then everything is fine.
Maybe a bug during the update...

Thank you man, it works perfectly. And people, instead of formatting your PC, read the forums a bit; there are very simple answers without overthinking. Thanks, flootchel, just in case

Problem, mss32_s.dll does not exist in my file, nor on my computer. WTF?
