Pb : des balises qui s'affichent

Bonjour,
pour mes premiers pas en html, j'ai fait comme on m'a dit : sur text edit j'ai rédigé les balises qui structurent toute page html, ainsi :
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="fr" >
<head>
<title>Bienvenue sur mon site !</title>
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>
Puis je l'enregistre au format .html et l'ouvre dans différents navigateurs...
Tout s'affiche, même les balises...!
Quelqu'un peut m'expliquer pourquoi?

As tu bien enregistrer ton fichier en .htm ou en .html ?
Ton extension doit etre en .htm ou .html, sinon tes balises ne vont pas convertir !!!!!
Enregistrer sous > index.html

A priori il traite ta page comme un fichier texte et non comme un fichier html. Vérifie dans les options si t'a pas un truc a ce sujet.
