Subliminal image

As part of my studies, I need to carry out an experiment. I am interested in the field of subliminal images and would like to create an animation. The experiment would be as follows:
- Fix the red cross
- What is the word that was presented to you?
(the animation will not loop during the experiment unlike this gif)
The problem is that here the word remains readable. I have chosen a duration of 1/100s (it is considered that below 17 ms, an image is subliminal). I therefore think this is due to the player or the gif.
So I thought about creating a video at 60 frames per second in which I would insert my subliminal word. However, I have no knowledge in this area; do you have any advice on the choice of software (free) and the steps to take?
