PIMF Cable

Hello everyone,

On cable shields, the mention PIMF (Pair In Metal Foil) frequently appears, which would literally mean FTP in my opinion.
However, I was convinced that the foil was made of aluminum.

What should I understand by the "Metal" in PIMF? Is it generic or are there several materials for the foil?

Thank you in advance,

  1. Hello,
    why isn’t aluminum a metal?

    1. Yes, but the difference would be that in one case we only have aluminum, while in the other case we would have aluminum shielding and copper shielding.
I never said that aluminum wasn't a metal. How could you understand that? ;-)

    2. Thank you, gentlemen, for your contributions. In fact, I think there isn't much need to question it indeed. The literal translation from English is not always appropriate!
