open a pdf file (error 14)

Hello,
I downloaded a PDF file and when I try to open it I receive this message: "an error occurred while opening this document. An error occurred while reading this document (14)" please help me open it.

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

I checked my file; it is of type: Adobe Acrobat Document and opens with: Adobe Reader 8.1, but the problem is it is blocked with the message I mentioned above.
