Copy/paste in a console Solved

Question

Hello,

I know it's probably a very dumb question, but I'm unable to copy or paste in my Linux console, whether using the mouse or keyboard shortcuts.

Do you have a solution to make these actions work in my console?

By the way, CCM's OS identifier is not accurate; I'm definitely on Linux.

in shell, ctrl c means stop, not copy
right click / paste should work

however, depending on the program you need to do ctrl c or right click/copy to copy
since you don't know, sometimes you have to do both before pasting

Whatever the console:

You highlight the text to copy/paste.
You left-click where you want to paste.
You click button 3.

The copied text will be the last one that was highlighted.

Regarding the type of console, actually, I didn't know, it's xterm, I checked with ps.

Only Fricky42's solution works for pasting into the console, however, I still haven't found a way to copy from the console.

Hi,  If you have the possibility, install the software konsole (with a k). It has many improvements compared to xterm ;-) -- 106485010510997108

If I copy text from outside and paste it into my console, it works.
If I copy text from the console and paste it back into the console, it works, at least it adds to the prompt.

But as soon as I try to copy text from the console to paste it outside, it doesn't work.

Ctrl C results in adding a new prompt line, Ctrl V has no effect, and the mouse does not perform any action in it.

Oh damn, sorry, I misunderstood what you told me, it's still weird that highlighting a text causes it to paste.  Well, problem solved! I found my shortcuts too.  Thanks to you all :)
