mail.yahoo.com different from mail.yahoo.fr

Question

Hello, I have an email under yahoo.com and another under yahoo.fr
Outlook Express has no problem with yahoo.fr but refuses to work with .com. There must be a connection with activation through YahooDirect, but that seems possible only with yahoo.fr.
So...?

You need to modify the server settings for the account that is not working
open Outlook Express
tools menu - accounts
click on the problematic account (yahoo.com) then on properties to the right
click on the server tab
check the pop and smtp settings (they should point to yahoo.com and not yahoo.fr)
make sure the correct email address (that of yahoo.com) is here and enter the correct password
and normally it should work

The error message says it doesn't recognize my password.
But that's normal because I'm not registered with YahooDirect. But we can't with yahoo.com!!! That's the problem, their system is messing up, I'm sure of it!

I couldn't find out what YahooDirect is...

And then Yahoo.com is not bad ;-)) 100MB, anti-spam, antivirus... you don't get that with Free ;-)))

Well, seriously, what is YahooDirect? Because I couldn't find it anywhere... is it something special about Yahoo.com?

As for Yahoo.fr, they don't say anything at all about OE and POP3... well, didn't find anything ;-)) (but it works...)

I have the same problem, unable to recover my yahoo.com email address in Outlook Express...
Apparently, the reason is simple... it seems that you need to subscribe to Yahoo Premium to be able to do this.
At least that's what I understood...

But if anyone has a solution or tip for recovering it in Outlook, or a good software, I'm interested ;-)

On the other hand, it is true that a yahoo.fr address can be recovered in Outlook!

Apparently, no POP for free yahoo.com accounts. This means that with a free .com account, Yahoo does not allow access through any interface other than their own.
No problems for yahoo.fr accounts.
I would like to know why?

indeed it is impossible to recover emails from a yahoo.com address.
The only solution is to install Ypops! which you can download here: http://ypopsemail.com/

It can be a bit slow at times, but it works!!
