Hello,

During the installation of Windows 2000 SP4, an error message indicates that the installation cannot continue because txtsetup.sif is corrupted or missing.

How can I fix this problem?

Indeed, it’s really the reader, Nuance by the way.

I have a first-generation DVD reader and a second-generation one, both perfectly functional.

The first-generation reader only works for my version of Windows XP Pro.
The second-generation reader only works for a version of Windows XP Compaq Home.

The difference between the two you ask?
The first-generation DVD doesn’t even have a CPU; even the reader with its RAM, it goes directly from the media to the motherboard. But it handles Silverlight (anti-piracy software for programs and games) very poorly
The second generation handles Silverlight perfectly.

Anyway, I suspect the difference is in the Windows XP installation format, a recovery DVD mounted. So you must verify the medium’s authenticity.

The other is a preconfigured DVD. This saves me from entering everything manually. I imagine it doesn’t need to verify the DVD’s authenticity since it’s a preconfigured copy, just the key (OCA) already integrated into the DVD.

When the readers were swapped, the one running on Compaq showed missing files, boot.ini, txtsetup.sif, etc. While the other told me that Smart had tripped (which was completely false)

So don’t throw away your first-generation DVDs. ^^
