Windows 95B/98/2000/ME/XP can't recognize the CD-RW drive, is a device driver installation needed?
It is not necessary to install a driver for most CD-RW drives under Windows OS. Window OS provide a universal standard ATAPI driver for optical drives. Only OS like DOS and Windows 3.x needed to install a driver (If this is the case, please download the driver from our download page or check with the Floppy Disk came with the drive). When Windows cannot recognize the drive, please check with the following:
1) Make sure the power is connected.
2) IDE cable is connected properly. Try re-connecting the cable.
3) Check if jumper setting is correct base on your settings prefer with other IDE devices. (Hardware Installation Guide available Here)
4) Make sure if the system BIOS setting is set to auto detect for IDE controllers and Plug and Play options is enabled.
If problem still persist, the drive may be defected. Please contact your vendor or distributor for exchange or contact us for warranty information.
