Hello, my Samsung U600 went through the washing machine a while ago during a full cycle. Is there any chance it will work again someday? I’ve heard that the circuits need to be dried, but I have no idea how to do that. My boyfriend and I are not at all specialists in phones. Considering the phone has been in the wash for some time now,
thank you in advance.

Hi
Apparently, there's no chance it will work again. The circuits are probably oxidized. I had the same problem with one of my old laptops. It's really beyond repair. You can try checking with a laptop repair shop, but I doubt they will be able to fix it.

Please, don't use formal language with me; I hate that.

Thank you very much, I'm going to take out my old phone, hoping that the SIM card still works.
If you get it repaired (Orange), it's about €135.
Was your phone on when it was in the washing machine or was the battery off?

Why repair?
If you are with Orange, SFR, or another provider, there are point systems to change your phone for 1€ while keeping your plan. Try to inquire with your operator ;)

I don’t want to discourage you, but it’s not going to work. You can still try, but you’re going to waste your time.
If it's been a while since it went through the wash, it's probably already dry. The circuits are dead, it's probably not the moisture that's preventing it from working.
The best thing to do, if you don’t have much money, is to get a new, cheap phone (too bad for all the fancy features and the look) and wait until you have enough points to get a new phone on renewal. You can find new phones for less than 50 euros, for example here:

(This is just an example; there are plenty of online retail sites: rueducommerce, pixmania, darty, surcouf, cdiscount...)

Please don’t address me formally, I hate that.

Hello Elodie, you remove your chip, your battery, you dry it with a hairdryer. It worked for me, but there is still some water inside. The side buttons no longer work, but the other buttons work since it's the Samsung Corby.
We will need to request a quote to know how much it might cost. It will depend on the parts that need to be replaced (if it's salvageable), the labor it will require... The store may also charge for the diagnosis. We should go see them to ask about the prices.

mineral salts, dirt, chemicals, and more.
In fact, once you have removed the water from the phone and it has dried, these dirt particles will remain, which, with the heat emitted by your temporarily resurrected phone, will definitely cause short circuits.
And thus the permanent death of your favorite phone.
Which I certainly do not wish for you..."

My phone fell into the water. It obviously didn't work anymore. I then dried it well, cleaned it, and took it to my agency where I innocently announced that it was broken. I got a new one 5 days later.
I'm not sure it works every time but... worth a try?

Hello,
This morning my mother told me that my phone (SONYERICSON W595 BLUE) went through the wash quickly. I tried to dry it by taking out the battery, the chip, and the memory card... but nothing at all... it made some small crackling noises and then nothing... What should I do?? The site you mentioned is still a bit expensive, especially since I could have gotten mine for cheap...
