here's a little PES 2009 tip on "how to simulate a foul", it is possible to change the outcome of the match with this small detail that can make the difference in a tight game.
Indeed, when you are the victim of a nasty tackle from your opponent, hold down R1 + R2 + L1 + L2 simultaneously.
This little act will influence the referee, who will penalize the offending player more severely (red card instead of yellow without simulation).
Moreover, there is a trick that betrays the game, it's the commentator; you must have heard them say "ohhh, he could have gotten a yellow". Every time you heard that expression, well, that was another missed opportunity to get a red card for your opponent...

You need to press R1+R2+L1+L2 from what I understood, otherwise go to Game One and select Test PES 2008 and they will say it, finally they say to press all four triggers, I think these are the buttons.
