Hello, I have a USB flash drive that I received as a gift which has 29MB and I would like to know if there is any software or something else to increase its storage capacity. Thank you in advance. Goodbye.

    First of all, I apologize for the "text language" that is unworthy of a forum. Then, I got this information from a little charlatan. And now that I've grown a bit, I think it was just pure fantasy... You're right jmp59, the frog bigger than an ox ^^

    I really don't think a solution exists, otherwise it would have been found a long time ago! And why would they put a component that limits... Everyone would switch! The storage space of the USB stick can only be filled or emptied, but not "enlarged." Sorry to those who believed it, but there really is no solution. I know there are several types of memory formatting (fat16, fat32, ntfs...) and that some are more advantageous (less weight in the disk clusters, which are used for the functioning of the stick) like NTFS, but that's really very little, especially with regard to a USB stick.

    So no way out, you'll get what you pay for!

      With this software Sdata that doesn’t require installation, my USB stick really went from 4 to 8 GB (7.44 GB), and I would like to understand how this is possible. Are the USB sticks sold in stores actually 8 GB ones that are passed off as 4... and why?

    There is a very simple method: all you need to do is compress the USB drive in Windows 7. Go to Properties and at the bottom in the General tab, check the box to compress to increase disk space, and then agree to compress the files and subfolders. For Windows XP, you need to format your USB drive and check the box to compress to increase disk space. To know if it worked, the documents you will copy will be named in blue.

    By the way, for those who don't know what Free does: mem(x) and dir -s

    free: mem(x) reallocates paged memory... (just generally useless...)

    dir -s... that's THAT JOKE
    it lists all files present in the directory and the subdirectories of the current directory... basically,

    it's like telling a driver that their car will go faster because they're sitting on velvet seats... not bad, huh?

      Well... and tell yourself one thing... We can do plenty of things software-wise... but one thing is for sure. If the hardware is insufficient, we can't process it on the software side (well, sometimes we can, for example, graphics drivers that are sometimes more optimized).

      We need to understand the wall between software and hardware, even if it's sometimes blurry.

      But if we could really fit 4GB of data on a 1GB USB stick... we would all do it, don't you think?

      NTFS only allows you to store files larger than 4GB (unlike FAT32), it does not increase the size of the USB drive.
