Hello, I can't figure out where this application error is coming from: schtasks.exe. This window appears every time I shut down the computer.
Thank you for giving me good advice. Bradner
Configuration: Windows Vista

Hello,

I had the same issue and by following your advice, the error disappeared. Thank you!
The error appeared after I installed a game that prompted me for a Java update.
In the Control Panel/Programs/Programs and Features, I uninstalled both Java versions, used CCleaner, restarted, and there you go.

Thanks again!

I've had this problem for a while, I tried your link, I did it, and it does nothing, it says that

so if someone has a solution!

Additionally, another problem, Windows Explorer closes and reopens when I open the Recycle Bin! Is there something to be done??

Thanks in advance! I'm counting on you ;)

Indeed, I don't know why, when I type the letter a it writes q, and in this program there are other things like that I don't know why?

And I arrive at a point where I don't know what to do anymore, so I quit (given the time :( )

Thank you in advance for your responses!

I typed: schtasks.exe, in the run window.
For a few seconds, a black window appeared, with white text scrolling by at high speed.
During the time of the computer disconnection, this window did not reappear.
But on the third shutdown, unfortunately, the application error window appeared again.
Thank you for reading, Bradner

It's A PROBLEM RELATED to the automatic update of JAVA.
solution:
install CCleaner
click on "tools" then "startup" then delete the entry related to java...
since then it hasn't happened to me again... fingers crossed

Hello lolodu56,

Maybe if you switched your keyboard to AZERTY you could type an a! ;)
To do this, simply press the Alt and Shift keys simultaneously! \^!^/

Hello!

Regarding the application with Ccleaner, there’s nothing with Java!

And about the keyboard, why does it change only when I go to Run? That’s weird!

Otherwise, I have another problem, which is unrelated to this, but hasn't been resolved elsewhere and I don’t want to create a post for it; let me explain, as soon as someone disconnects from MSN, I get a message saying, Windows, incorrect images. If anyone knows what this is about, thank you!

I bought a computer in December 2008 that runs on Vista. When shutting down, I received this error message schtasks.exe. The problem has never been resolved by customer support.
I went into the task scheduler to locate the issue, then into MS CONFIG to perform a selective startup (by deselecting files one by one at startup) without finding a solution.
Based on your discussions, I tried Ccleaner and then went to https://www.tayo.fr/dsactiver-schtasksexe-astuce.php but to no avail.
As you linked this error message to JAVA, I simply uninstalled the version of Java on my computer (which was from 09/2007) to install a newer one (via the JAVA site through telecherger.com). Since then, everything works correctly.
See you and good luck, marcodu22

I'm resurrecting this old topic because I've spent a little time searching the forums without finding a functional solution, the problem coming back every time.

Uninstall all occurrences of Java from the control panel (uninstall programs), then by unchecking the Java entry still present at startup in Windows Vista using msconfig (start menu and type "msconfig" in the "search" field).

Reboot.

And finally reinstalling the latest version of Java:

http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

And there you go, no more "beep" at startup and no more error "schtasks.exe the application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142)"

Hoping to have helped those who might see the same message when closing Windows Vista.
