Hello.
I have Windows XP Home SP2 updated.
I have Norton Antivirus, Zone Alarm, SpywareBlaster, PestPatrol, Spybot, CCleaner, Cleanup, RegCleaner, MBSA 2.0, Panda Online, Trend Online,
a Netgear wifi modem, and since yesterday, I have the infamous message:
svchost.exe application error the memory cannot be read
in the end, the svchost.exe service must be stopped to continue.
This type of message seems to come from nowhere and nobody knows why it disappears.
Can you help me?

This is a total mess!
This might help you a bit,
When this message arrives (The instruction to (packet of numbers and letters) uses the memory address 0x000000. Memory cannot be read
This is because each program has its memory address (which prevents crashing; under Win 98, ME, and 95, programs read the same memory range, hence the crashing of all applications at the same time)
This has happened to me a few times during software installations; there’s a good chance this happened with software that conflicts with Explorer.
Which software did you install after your PC was running fine?
Uninstall and reinstall the software once you’ve found it
Search for the conflict by disabling one by one the tasks running in the "background."
Go to the software manufacturer’s website to check if there’s an update for the product.
Check the performance setting "adjust for best performance" (My Computer, properties, advanced, performance settings).
Identify the faulty program causing the instability in memory management.
This task can be performed with Msconfig and involves selectively starting applications.
Uninstall, reinstall, test all the software you find suspicious but in a certain order, as some resources may be overwritten, causing another software to malfunction.
Updates are nice, but sometimes they conflict with your configuration; only install those you consider critical, check the box to notify you of updates but without downloading, so you can see if they are critical or not
Make sure this is not the work of malware.
Is your anti-spyware software up to date? If not, update the definitions and recheck, and run an updated antivirus scan
Also, don't use multiple software for the same task
And if you still can’t resolve it, try a system restore to when your PC was functioning properly.

Salut, tout est à jour ; j'ai toute la panoplie des antispy, etc. (voir plus haut)
j'ai eu pas mal de merde depuis le dernier message.
Je suis obligé de continuer maintenant sur un autre PC, comme maintenant. Et puis je n'avais pas activé la restauration, quelconque.
L'erreur est plus grave qu'on ne pense :
Après l'écran d'erreur, 20 secondes après le démarrage du bureau Windows !
Svchost.exe erreur d'application.
L'instruction à "0x00000000" emploie l'adresse mémoire "0x0000000". La mémoire ne peut pas être "read".
Cliquez sur OK pour terminer le programme, annuler pour déboguer le programme.
Dans les deux cas, cela amène à terminer le processus svchost.exe.
Or cela empêche deux choses au moins :
1 La fonction du pare-feu Windows devient impossible dès que svchost.exe s'arrête.
2 Il n'y a plus d'accès internet.
3 J'ai également constaté au moins une fois l'impossibilité d'avoir le service des thèmes de Windows XP, puis ceci est revenu après un reboot. Aussi plus de contrôle du volume sonore (j'ai une carte avec console en baie 51/1) Audigy 2 plus Creative. L'icône Windows ne donne plus rien.
4 Dans les services de Windows, si j'ouvre la liaison réseau qui est désormais coupée, le service refuse de redémarrer : l'attente est infinie, puis un message me dit que l'attente est trop longue.
Impossible de faire des choses courantes :
Si Word s'ouvre, impossible de faire une vérification orthographique (un sablier remplace la flèche souris, durant un temps infini).
Impossible de rebooter par Windows (XP Familial SP2 à jour, original aucune copie).
Selon le reboot, je peux réutiliser Windows (sauf internet) tant que je n'ai pas cliqué sur le "ok" du message d'erreur.
Je me suis souvenu d'un message lu il y a 6 mois sur un autre forum, et je me suis souvenu que ce type d'erreur a un rapport avec le choix du thème de l'affichage.
Thème modifié ou thème Windows XP donnent ce type d'erreur.
Après un reboot, sans message d'erreur, en sélectionnant le thème "Windows XP" (clic droit sur le bureau), le message d'erreur est apparu aussi sec !! Mais je n'ai pas réussi à ravoir le choix du "thème modifié".
J'ai aussi eu du nez en recherchant le DLL sound32.dll à rajouter dans system32 et dans l'arborescence directe du disque C, en constatant que l'icône du volume sonore refusait de s'ouvrir, il est revenu grâce à ce DLL.
Je suis en train de craquer, car dans 2 jours si je n'arrive pas à activer ma connexion réseau vers mon modem wifi Netgear (qui refuse d'être accepté), je réinstallerai Windows. (en mettant de côté mes 1 téra octet de disque dur interne par carte contrôleur..)
Alors mes amis, tentez de m'aider car j'ai les nerfs. J'y ai passé deux nuits.
Ma carte 311 wifi est active, et pourtant selon que je choisisse une connexion Windows ou Netgear, ça me dit que la carte réseau est désactivée.
Or j'avais ce message même quand j'avais internet avec cette carte, dont les propriétés prouvent qu'elle fonctionne parfaitement.
Dans les propriétés de la carte Netgear 311, il y a trois choix possibles, et je ne sais pas le bon (de mémoire, le troisième s'appelle Netgear).
Bref.
En tout cas, l'utilitaire de test de réseau donne bien le réseau actif à 50 g (75 % de signal sécurisé WEP) ; le modem clignote normalement, mais pas de connexion réseau. Inextricable !
Je n'ai plus accès à la page du menu Netgear de mon modem routeur : page inexistante.
Quelles sont les règles Windows des thèmes pour ne pas avoir l'erreur "read" ?

J'ai tout cherché en mode sans échec.
J'ai scanné en ligne, etc. tout semble sain.
Avec les utilitaires, j'ai regardé le registre, les erreurs Windows tout est ok. Je me demande si ces trois utilitaires (voir plus haut) n'ont pas fait de c..ries, vu que je les utilise de temps en temps.
Avant de réinstaller Windows (maman cent trucs à remettre et cinquante reboots..), voire formater le disque dur principal par sécurité. Si on peut me sauver la mise ici.
Sans compter quelques erreurs du disque dur M (vous connaissez l'alphabet..) avec quelques fichiers récupérés (file 000, 001 en fichiers cachés) à chaque reboot ; J'EN AI MARRE.

It's exactly the same issue I have, I'm almost sure it's a malware, but I can't find it, it works in the background,
because I've always used the same software and the same Windows XP, I haven't changed anything,
this kind of problem happened to me on a laptop, and after data transfer via USB stick from one computer to another, my desktop got infected, the issue persists even after reinstalling Windows, which means we need to find the source of the problem and how this malware spreads, to put an end to it.

It's by modifying the Windows theme (by right-clicking on the desktop) that I managed to remove the error.
Once, however, I encountered it, but it was no longer schost.exe that was causing the issue, but fanny print, a very handy screenshot tool. Since then, everything has been fine.
Who knows why the "read" error occurs in relation to the choice of Windows XP Home theme?
After that, I reset the modem router (with a needle in the reset slot of the modem) for 15 seconds and everything was back to normal.
Only the WEP security bothers me, moreover the Netgear hotline doesn’t know what to do with WEP; they hesitate to install a better security which is offered by the modem... a link on this subject for Netgear 834 G V2 modem??

To my knowledge, if it's not a theme from XP (Luna or others) like XP-style software, either update it or uninstall it.

It's a conflict, I think, between the themes "Windows XP" and "modified theme"
moreover, I have never modified a theme, nor installed other themes. I have never had that need and no one else uses this PC. Since I bought it new.

I have the same message that appears just before the session selector is displayed.
However, whether I click OK or Cancel, no changes are made afterward... everything works fine (thankfully).
This message first appeared after a restart when I made some changes to "services.msc" (Start, Run).
What I did was set (almost) all services to Automatic, following a Windows error...
I really think the problem comes from there, but what should I disable/enable in the services, since there are several "svchost.exe" services?
Or maybe I'm mistaken!
