How to pause an animated gif?

Hello,

I would like to know how hovering over an animated GIF could make it stop (as if I were asking for "pause"). Then, moving the mouse away from the GIF would allow it to restart from where it stopped.

I have tried a few codes in the dark, but nothing works. I imagine it's about creating behavior with onMouseOver, but I can't find the corresponding action (Stop? Pause?)...

I created my animated GIF in Photoshop CS
I'm then working on Dreamweaver.
Thank you for your help because I will need to use this action several times for my site.

See you soon

Ah shoot...

The issue is that I have a large number of images in my animated gif. Is there, by any chance, a way to achieve the same type of result other than through a gif? An automatic slideshow for example, but I've never explored those functions.

I’m also thinking about creating a video; it could be controlled by the pause and play button at any time, but that’s a bit complicated for the visitor. Because it’s not in the interest of the video to keep pausing...

Thank you for letting me know if you have any ideas about this. Because I'm a bit short on imagination right now!

In Flash, it's possible to create an automatic slideshow, but you need some knowledge of ActionScript...
