Issue with the up/down key

Hello everyone,
I have a big keyboard issue, I hope you can help me.
Basically, overnight the key that is supposed to produce less than and greater than symbols (<, >) stopped working. Instead, it returns the symbols * or µ (if Shift is pressed), I checked the ASCII codes and the key that is normally meant for less than gives me the code for the asterisk, I have no idea what could be causing this.
I am using AZERTY and all my regional settings are in French and my OS is Windows Vista (I know, it's bad ^^). Let me tell you that coding isn't easy like this (copy-pasting works for a while ^^)
So if anyone knows what this could be due to, please let me know.
Thank you.
Best regards.
Configuration: Windows Vista Firefox 2.0.0.11

to get the greater than sign, simply press (alt+62) and for the less than sign (alt+60), thank you.
