Hard Drive/Projector Connections

Hello,
I have had a projector (with USB 3.0/HDMI connection) for some time now.
Some videos from my USB-connected hard drives play perfectly, while others (the majority) have video but no audio.
After doing some research online, I found out that everything should be connected via HDMI, which works well but forces me to move my PC to connect it.
Additionally, I am bothered by the screen's brightness since it is quite close to me.
Therefore, I would like to connect my hard drives through HDMI.
So, with my HDMI male connector at both ends, would a female HDMI to USB adapter be sufficient for me to connect?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello,
The easiest way is to get a small digital multimedia player like the Zumkunm for about €50.
It will allow you to connect your external hard drives, be able to read your videos, and project them via HDMI.

Hello,
If you have USB external drives, you won't be able to connect them via HDMI.
If some of the videos don't have audio when connected directly from the drive, it's probably because the audio encoding of the videos is not recognized by the projector (and so even connecting the drive via HDMI, if it were possible, wouldn't change that). You would need to compare the audio type between the videos where the sound works and those where there is no sound. And you might need to re-encode the videos.
