Unknown box left by the previous owners

Hello,

we are moving into our new house.

When I inquired about the internet connection, I was told it was an RJ45 connection. That makes me think of an ethernet cable.

I found the box in the living room in the picture. It's the first time I've seen this type of box, does anyone recognize this type of box and know its purpose?

    RJ45 is a type of connector for an ethernet cable. It’s actually the same thing.
