HWID ban question

Hello;

I bought a gaming laptop for my son on Le Bon Coin, and after installing his games, he got his Fortnite account and his Warzone account banned. I wrote directly to the support of both platforms for an explanation, and it turns out that the used PC I bought was HWID banned, according to what they told me, because the previous owner had used cheating programs with it.

After some understandable back-and-forth and providing proof, they lifted the bans on my son's game accounts, telling me not to use the PC in question anymore, as there would be no more exceptions in case of a new ban. We're doing okay, even though the seller no longer responds to my messages, but I managed to save my son's accounts.

So I bought a new PC, but this time brand new, and my question is the following:

Before realizing that the laptop was HWID banned, I used an external hard drive to transfer files from another PC to his. Since then, I haven't plugged the external hard drive anywhere else but on my son's PC after transferring the files, and I would like to know if the external hard drive is contaminated by the HWID ban since it touches the ID numbers of the components?

I'm afraid to plug this external hard drive into my PC and end up banned everywhere because the HWID ban might have contaminated the external hard drive as well as my PC since I also play Fortnite and Warzone....

Can I continue using my external hard drive?

Thank you in advance for your answers, have a great day before the weekend ;)

Hello,

In my opinion, format the external hard drive and use it for data other than online games, but that's just my opinion.

I leave it to the experts on the CCM Forum to respond to you.

Hello and thank you for your response. I don't use the hard drive to install executables, so there are no programs or games installed on it, just data like photos, installable programs like Office or WinRAR to install on another PC, or basic files like movies, music, and backups.
