My keyboard doesn't work in Windows menus.

Hello,

for the past two days without making any changes to my PC or anything else, my keyboard no longer works in the Windows menus. My keyboard works perfectly in games or in my search engine, however, it doesn't work when I want to search for something on my PC. I thought it might be my keyboard, so I tested two others and nothing works. Additionally, even the Windows virtual keyboard doesn't work in the settings, so there you go. Thank you for reading and for helping me if you have a solution.

Have a nice day

    Hello,

What brand is the computer in question?

Also, check on the keyboard that the Caps Lock key is not activated (see the image below):

      Hello,

Caps Lock does not prevent the keyboard from functioning (except in certain cases for function keys and of course for case-sensitive inputs, which typically do not exist under Windows except for passwords on Unix servers, for example), so the keyboard does not seem to be materially defective.

The situation suggests more of a keyboard remapping by games (which would be consistent with the visual keyboard that only simulates the same ANSI sequences), with browsers perhaps escaping this for a reason I do not know.

Does it happen all the time or only when a game is minimized to do another activity? If it is permanent, you need to find in the game in question the script responsible for this remapping; if there is none and it results from an executable, there is no solution other than the existence of a setting in the game in question.

What is curious in this hypothesis is that games only remap a limited number of keys and combinations; the others should work.

You need to understand "software" in the broad sense; a malware script that would have the same consequences cannot be ruled out.

      Hi,

Go to Start <<Settings<<, Update and Security, Select the tab:

troubleshoot then go to <<Find and fix other problems >>, click on the keyboard > click on run the troubleshooter and follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

Also change the USB connection; I'm not writing a novel but I'm trying to help you as accurately as possible and remain understanding towards you.

This is a tower, so it's not really a brand, and no, Caps Lock is not activated.

I also tried going into the settings and doing what you said, but it doesn't work.

I don't think it's a bug related to a game because the problem occurs in Windows menus like settings or when I want to search for things on my PC.

    Hello everyone ....

If the keyboard hasn't been working properly for 2 days and apparently only under Windows, personally I would do a system restore as long as it is possible, setting a date prior to the issue encountered to see if it corrects it.

    See you later
