Hello,

I'm posting my message here in desperation, if someone can help me it would be great.

I bought a domain name and personal hosting for my Google Site (a showcase for my business). The first step of adding the domain name has been completed.
However, to add the CNAME ghs.googlehosted.com., I receive the following message:
"The subdomain already uses a DNS record. You cannot register a CNAME field due to incompatibility. Please delete existing records for this subdomain so you can add one of type CNAME."


If you can help me finalize this step by clearly explaining (because I’m a novice) what I need to delete and add to connect my Google Site to OVH.

    This could, who knows, help other users facing the same type of problem.

    Hello,

    I followed (nervously because I was afraid of making a mistake knowing nothing) the procedure recommended by OVH under the message, namely to delete the registered subdomains (basically what starts with: www) associated with A 146 ... /AAAA 2001... /TXT 3 ...

    And miracle, I was able to validate the procedure and add the CNAME (which can be found in the googlesite settings "associated domains").

    I then went back to the googlesite settings to add my site name. Now I have an error message when I try to go to the site "

    404. That’s an error.

    The requested URL was not found on this server. That’s all we know."

    but I think it's just a matter of time for everything to sync up (fingers crossed)

    For the connection of my googlesite to OVH, I've been following this video for 3 days: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVv12HbQZ8E

    But I struggled at every step. Every time it unlocks, it's a mega party :)

    I hope to someday see my site published even if it's "homemade".

    Sorry if nothing is clear in my message, but I am not at all an expert in DNS, etc...
