Prevent Google Photos from backing up screenshots

Hello,
I just started using Google Photos and launched my backups.
The problem is that it automatically uploads my screenshots and I only have 15GB of storage.
Since the Screenshot folder is located in DCIM, it's impossible to disable it from the app.
I considered putting a .nomedia file in there, but that would prevent me from sending funny memes via Messenger or other apps.
I also wanted to change the default location of the screenshot folder, but I can't (I'm on Android).
There’s also the possibility of using a different capture app than the default one, but I don’t want to.
If anyone among you has managed to work around this problem, I would be grateful!
Thanks in advance,

Hello
while staying under the basic app, Google Photos backs up EVERYTHING that is in the gallery. We can't sort by file type, which is the case for many basic applications.
Best regards

Hello,
Use another Android app and disable Google Photos, which I find far too intrusive. I use this application... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.atomicadd.fotos
