Cleaning Sony-XB72 speaker

Hello,

There's a stain behind the grille of my speaker, do you have any tips for cleaning it?

    If it’s about the reddish halos, with zooming in, I don’t see any color alterations on the grid, which appears gray in all areas,

    It rather looks like degradation of the paint covering the membranes. This needs to be checked by lightly scratching a non-affected area.

    This would suggest a DIY solution to find a suitable spray paint that does not alter the flexibility of the membranes.

    But I could be wrong since I can’t examine the product.

    Edit: a follow-up question comes to mind, does the other speaker show any signs of a similar nature?

    Hello,

    This speaker has a LED system positioned at the top, bottom, and sides of the speakers. Could it be what is causing these "colored spots"?

      Hello Baladur,

      I also had the impression that it was about light reflections, but it cannot be confused with the spots referred to by Moro, which wouldn't be visible when the chain is stopped. I would be more convinced by your proposal.

    Hello everyone, it’s not the red halo, it’s just the reflection of the LEDs. The stains I’m talking about are probably alcohol stains, visible on the bottom speaker. I’m looking for a solution to clean them through the grille.

      The question you are asking falls within the realm of cleaning and it would probably be more appropriate to consult DIY specialists. Moreover, the first photo presented shows red light spots that we are supposed to identify, whereas the second one shows dirt or product residues that seem to form a translucent film.

      In short, nothing suggests an electronics or computer problem. I only see a cleaning issue and, as I mentioned, a spray paint job, but for that, you need to dismantle the grille, and you should be comfortable doing it on your own as we can't really guide you remotely (the grille may be glued).

      In any case, this aesthetic question, perhaps crucial, is beyond my expertise.

    But is it really worth it?

    Otherwise, you can spray it with plenty of water and let it dry enough.

    As long as you don't wet the transformer and the cardboard speakers.
