Very slow copying to an SSD hard drive

Hello,

Using Windows 11, I just added a 1 TB internal SSD, and when I start copying files from another drive to this one, the copying becomes very slow (taking a few hours) after copying a few normally.

My internal hardware configuration:

- 1 SSD 250 GB boot drive C

- 1 SSD 1 TB for workspace

- 1 SATA 1 TB hard drive for workspace

    Hello,

    The speed of both media matters.

    Then there's the fragmentation of files; if a disk has never been defragmented, reading/copying can be slower.

    However, with an SSD, it is preferable not to defragment it, or to do so as little as possible.

    Some flash memory or memory controllers slow down when they heat up, being less stable than others.

    I'm just copying working directories and files from my SATA drive to the SSD or sometimes from the SSD to the SATA drive.

    Copying multiple small files is slower than medium/large files.

    This is where many memory devices show their greatest weakness.

    If there is a larger difference with large files between the maximum speed and the "cruising" speed, it's a problem with low-end flash memory that is almost guaranteed to overheat.

    normally, the copying is done very quickly for the first few directories or files, then it becomes very slow. Sometimes, I have a 4 GB file that can take 7 or 10 hours or even much longer.
