Hello,
This afternoon, a small red number 1 appeared on my profile picture on the Messenger chat page in the top left corner.
Do you know what it corresponds to, please?
I don't have any friend requests, message invitations, or unread messages.

Good evening,
Normally, it is indeed a notification as there has been a receipt of a message. Haven't you received any recently? Perhaps you may not have opened them? And then deleted them afterwards?
If there is indeed nothing at all in the "message invitation" folder or in the "Contacts" tab, I suggest that you log out of Messenger and then log back in again.
