There has NEVER been a possibility of payment through DHL which - let’s remember - is just a carrier, not a bank!

You’ve been fooled by a distant scammer trying to scare you into giving them money..

I also had a similar experience; I listed an item for sale on the marketplace, and a lady wants to pay in cash through DHL. I would like to know if this is a scam or not.

Never accept DHL payment on marketplace, it’s a known scam.

DHL is a carrier, nothing to do with cash.

This scam is unfortunately still relevant. I enjoy playing along with their games to then inform them that I know exactly who they are and what they’re doing; strangely, they become aggressive and at that moment I report them and block them.

Hello, same thing for me today, with threats of filing a complaint and all the fuss. As if I was going to pay €150 in DHL insurance fees for a table worth €40 that I'm selling. On my side, I've made reports, including one to the gendarmerie.

I'm reaching out to you because supposedly a lady wants to buy a box from me on the marketplace, and she's offering to pay in cash, going through DHL, and then they would give me the money in exchange for the box. But in between, to receive the money, the guy from DHL is telling me to go to a tobacco shop to buy a PCS recharge in order to recover the money and then give them the package.

So do you think this is a scam?

Like you, I am a bit wary.

I just had one on Marketplace via Facebook, he's named "Pascal André" and apparently lives in La Rochelle. I wasn't familiar with this kind of scam, so being very curious and cautious by nature, I asked him a lot of questions about how it was supposed to work. When I asked him why he had my email address for sending something by mail, suddenly, he left the conversation. I reported and blocked him.

Hello, there are more and more scams of all kinds on Facebook (I don't know about the others)
but a little common sense will save you most of the time
a small battery-powered digger for kids for 30 euros is not possible, so you'll pay but never receive anything
DHL, as already stated, is not a bank but just a carrier
those who offer you more than the sale amount just to pay the shipping (and who are often generous) flee!
tickets, coupons of all kinds, or bitcoins are not currencies that are in circulation, do not use them! at least not for this purpose

PayPal is great if you only provide the email address that was used to open the account, and nothing else: no postal address, no bank details, no phone number, nothing! (make sure to check and update the email address if you change it!)
go see if the money has arrived from your account and NEVER from an email received
and there is so much more to say... just a bit of thought before rushing, that's already something!

I'm bringing this post back up to report a scammer via the Facebook marketplace (account used: D'aise).

Same method, sending money via DHL and paying for a so-called insurance fee coupon.

I posted an ad for a dog transport crate worth 100 euros.

Be wary of the replies.

This is not a DHL Agent asking you to go to the tobacco shop.. It's a FRAUDSTER who will use the 'code' to top up HIS card..

There is no money to be retrieved.. Cut off all contact!
