Hello,
I would like to buy a second-hand Xbox One X and the seller tells me that he bought it in December 2019 and hasn't used it since November 2020, when the Xbox Series X was released. I would like to know if leaving an Xbox One X turned off for a year could damage it?

    Normally no, leaving your Xbox One X turned off for a year won't damage it.
    As long as it's not damaged to begin with, it will remain in perfect working condition. Of course, the seller says what they want... but there is no risk on that side; the rest I cannot know.
    However, be careful! Leaving your console in sleep mode for a long time without turning it off can indeed damage it.
