Hello,
I have W10 + Edge and would like to set Gmail as the default (not offered under "open with" or default apps).
I don't want to use Google Chrome for this and want to keep Edge, is it possible?
Thank you and have a nice day.

Hello
Just open the site gmail.com with Edge and enter your ID and password!
See you!
If this helped you: a little thank you is nice. If it's resolved: the green button at the top is better ;-)

Hello,
In Edge, open Gmail.
At the far right of the address bar, you should have a small icon; you need to click on it:
If the icon does not appear, go to Edge and navigate to edge://settings/content/handlers and check if "mail.google.com" is blocked. If so, remove it by clicking the trash icon.

Last step, open Windows settings and set Edge as "Email App".

Hello
And if you want Gmail to open automatically when Edge starts, you can also modify Edge's settings in "Start/Home/New Tab," then "On startup of Microsoft Edge," and add the Gmail page in "Open these pages"...
Also add Gmail to your Favorites, etc...
See you

Just set gmail.com as default ==>

Hello,
I'm having a bit of trouble following you.
When you save an email (which is not immediate with Gmail), you get a .eml file.
See here for saving an email with Gmail: https://www.pcastuces.com/pratique/astuces/5427.htm
This .eml file can only be opened with software (email client) installed on your computer and not with a webmail service like gmail.com.
So there is something that doesn't add up when you compare the Mail app and the gmail.com webmail.
When you write:I have W10 + Edge and would like to set Gmail as default. (not offered under "open with" or default apps).
, it's completely normal!
Mail is the client installed by Windows. So it is normal that it is called to open the .eml file.
This is independent of the browser you are using (Chrome or Edge).
Other software capable of opening an email saved as a .eml file are Thunderbird and Outlook (paid, provided with Microsoft Office).
What is well understood is clearly expressed,
And the words to say it come easily.

Thank you both, and as often, I express myself poorly...
I added Gmail to my favorites bar, but when I save an email and want to reopen it, it's "Mail" that takes over and not Gmail (which doesn’t appear as a default choice in default applications, or maybe I'm just messing it up as usual). -
I have to be absent this afternoon but I will try your advice in the evening.
Thank you in the meantime. -
Thank you for your patience:
Pierr10 Gmail/Others/ offers me the option to view the original + download or download the message but in both cases after saving a window appears: this type of files can harm your device so (?)
Pyraah I was able to perform the operation and I throw mail.google.com in the trash and when I want to test it is present again. (I must have missed something but where?)
thank you -
Thank you both, there's no need to waste your time with my stupid problems; to simplify, I installed the free EMClient (I only have 2 accounts) and I'm using it by default.
Have a good day everyone. -
Hello.
<<< Is it possible? >>>
Of course, no problem at all. You can even create a shortcut on the desktop, which will allow you to open Gmail automatically.
See you . . .
